Galaxy Nails Tutorial - Nails and Noms
Allo! Better late than never, here’s my tutorial for the galaxy nails I created for day 19 of the 31 Day Challenge. What’s great about this look is that there’s not really a wrong way to do it. It doesn’t have to be precise, and it’s almost better if each nail looks slightly different from one another.
Simple 3 Twists Hairstyle
First, a little back story: I was on Pinterest (I know, big surprise) awhile back and Ms. Ez from Creature Comforts pinned a fun messy hair-do, and mentioned she needed to learn how to do it. So I piped in that I should show her how. I have been wanting to do a hair tutorial for ages now, so this was the perfect reason to get it done. I was a hairstylist in my first life, and I am not too shy to say I was a pretty good one – I can’t say that about everything, so I will take it where I can ;).

Recently I realized that we’ve never really had a specific chat about hair serums. There are so many different formulas from silicone-based, to alcohol free, to natural, to curl enhancing, etc… All of them promise to deliver mega shine on the driest, dullest hair. But there’s more to it than that. I thought it would be fun to break down 8 of my favorites (each being my jam for a different reason), tell you what I’ve experienced with each and tell you who I would recommend them for. I tend to apply some sort of serum on almost every head of hair that I curl which I think is a major contributor to why my curls get so perfectly piece-y. I think the only real way to gauge your love for a hair serum is to put a drop in your palm and try it on your hair!

An Amazing Collapsible Lamp
You remember Hoberman spheres, right? Those collapsing, 3-D gizmos? Pish posh--they've got nothing on this new lamp by Studio Dror, being unveiled this week at Art Basel. The shade itself folds completely flat--it actually looks just like a bit of chicken wire or plastic fencing. But give it a tug, and the thing unfurls into a forest of interlocking cubes. The only way to create something this complex is rapid prototyping--and laser sintering, to be exact.
Splatter Nails Tutorial
Splatter nails are super cool and easy to do, but they make a huge mess! I didn't tape my nails for this tutorial, and I really regretted it while I was doing the clean up. If you want a tutorial for how to tape off nails check out this one. Aside from the mess, this tutorial is a breeze and I got so many compliments on them. Play around with your color choices and make something beautiful!

Here I’ve replicated the process for you in 7 steps on an extension. While I never recommend bleaching out the ends of your hair at home, if you want to do the fun colors yourself, maybe get the tips bleached out by a pro + then play with the temporary colors on your own. The best things about this color– you’re able to hide it in a bun for work if you need to, AND you’re only doing a couple of inches on the bottom so it won’t kill you to cut it off if you get over it quickly.

My gorgeous client Katie, who has a long bob, was sitting in my chair and this happened so we thought we’d snap some photos and share since we get a lot of requests for short hair styles! TOOLS: bobby pins, accessory, hairspray. Prep: You’ll want the hair to have some texture before you pin it up. If you have curly hair, you’re all set.

How to tie a half-bow scarf To tie the half-bow scarf, you should first loop the scarf around your neck and tie once– like the first step of tying your shoelaces. Then, take one side of the scarf and make a one loop, as if you were only tying one side of the bow on your shoes. Take the longer section of the scarf and wrap it in front and then behind the entire scarf, next to your neck.

Growing up in Asia, I have only come across the Chinese finger paintings which uses finger and black ink that the painter draws traditional paintings mostly of flowers, animals or scenery. And now there's Judith Braun who uses her fingers to draw but in a totally new way which she dipped her fingers in charcoal or pastel and mostly her drawings are in abstract forms and bilateral symmetry.
