Malawi, Africa – Join Us! The Malawi flower has happened. Three rooms, two toilets, and a shower are built. We want to thank the local people of Kapita who made all of us feel at home while we worked with them. We want to thank the student soldiers who helped to both finance and build this project. We want to thank Empower Malawi for facilitating the initial beginnings of this project. We are hoping that the local people of Kapita can finish this flower just as the people of Sierra Leone finished theirs. Chicago Tribune Inside every adult lurks a graduation speaker dying to get out, some world-weary pundit eager to pontificate on life to young people who'd rather be Rollerblading. Most of us, alas, will never be invited to sow our words of wisdom among an audience of caps and gowns, but there's no reason we can't entertain ourselves by composing a Guide to Life for Graduates. I encourage anyone over 26 to try this and thank you for indulging my attempt.Ladies and gentlemen of the class of '97: Wear sunscreen. If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. The long-term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists, whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience. Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth. Don't worry about the future. Do one thing every day that scares you. Sing. Don't be reckless with other people's hearts. Floss. Don't waste your time on jealousy. Remember compliments you receive. Keep your old love letters.
Earthship Europe The first earhship to be built in Europe was planned in Boingt, Belgium. It's a small municipality in the French speaking region of Belgium. Artists impression from the earthship Boingt - Illustration: M. Reynolds, Earthship Biotecture Josephine, a journalist, had visited Michael Reynolds in New Mexico and had him made a design for an earthship in Belgium. The design of the earthship is clearly still modular and a cisterns module is still included (we are talking the year 2000). Floorplan of the intended earthship at Boingt, Belgium - Design: M. While the team of Earthship Biotecture was on his way to Europe, the council of the municipality put their veto on the project. Despite this major setback Josephine did not intend to give up her plans. On the spot, being Josephine's home in Strombeek, it was decided a small demonstration earthship without systems would be build in her backyard. Art Bell | Dark Matter PRIVACY NOTICE:**** Warning--any person and/or… Eco Village community starts to build Germany's first Earthship Constructed using recycled and natural materials and equipped with natural off-grid systems to provide heating, cooling, energy generation, water, sewage treatment and food production, Earthship homes make a radically sustainable lifestyle possible. For the first time, cautious German authorities have supplied a pioneering self-sufficient community with a permit to build their own inhabited Earthship. Could a new wave of self-sufficient, self-built German homes follow? Schloss Tempelhof community met with Earthship Biotecture Deutschland in 2014 to begin a design process including biotecture expert Michael Reynolds and local architect Ralf Müller. With more Earthships dotting the map of Europe, the team could point to inhabitants enjoying year round comfortable and carbon neutral conditions in existing Earthships such as the low carbon trust headquarters in Brighton and Brittany groundhouse. Earthship Project in New York | Eco Brooklyn Inc. We are earthship enthusiasts here at Eco Brooklyn, and are currently speaking with a client who wants to build an earthship in New York State. Here are some ideas being thrown around between Michael Reynolds, Eco Brooklyn, and the client, that we may be able to help turn into reality. The schematic of this global model earthship shows an additional greenhouse that will provide greater temperature stabilization, which would be better suited to New York’s climate, and will provide additional grow space as well. The earthship will of course be capable of functioning independently from the grid. All images are property of Earthship Biotecture. - Liza Chiu Similar Posts:
