Children of Blood and Bone (Legacy of Orïsha, #1) by Tomi Adeyemi It doesn't happen too often that I actually, really dislike a book. And I still can't really express how sad I am about the fact that it had to happen with this one. Initially, I was wary about Children of Blood and Bone. It's Trevor Noah: Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood by Trevor Noah This is the first time I have read something related to South Africa and apartheid. Though it's legally forbidden, strangely, racism still prevails in most parts of the world socially. It's great how Nelson Mandela Sir has made a huge impact on anti-apartheid.

Just to clarify: Yes, I did cry.I've read a lot of positive and negative reviews for this book. I can see why people wouldn't like it - I really can. Perhaps because I took a lot out of it personally, I found I enjoyed it a lot.Quick test to see if you'll like this book:1. Did you like Anne of Green Gables?2. In a book called “The One and Only Ivan”, it makes sense that Ivan is at the heart of the story. Not only does his life take center stage, but he's also our one and only narrator. This book is all Ivan, all the time! You can smell and taste Timberlake's sentences like beef bourguignon drenched in a saporous burgundy wine sauce. That's a mouthful, no? I've never used the word, "saporous." First of all, the writing is peppy and the kids are fun- I'd like to try another Spinelli book. This one isn't a recommended read for modern children though because of the inadequate way that race is handled. If you loved this book, you may want to skip the rest of my review below. Problematic. This book is supposedly about a kid name Maniac Magee but is really just a cringefest of race relations in a segregated town.
