Related: LAINEClassic Cuffed Hat For as long as I can remember, every Sunday my grandmother makes fresh pasta from scratch, and every Sunday she uses the same metal pasta maker she got as a wedding anniversary gift from my grandfather in 1961. When we press her to upgrade to a new machine, she always responds, “It’s hard to improve on a classic!” I revisited the truth in my grandmother’s words when I set out to make this winter’s hat. How could I improve on a classic winter hat?
how to crochet a daisy chain necklace My mum described this thing she had seen on someone else, part necklace, part scarf, like a bunch of flowers for your neck and I was really taken with this idea of floral jewels. So after a bit of experimentation I came up with this design. It is simple to make with basic crochet stitches, and could have endless variations both in terms of the yarns and flower styles used to make it but also in the way it is worn. Materials * Yarn – I used Rowan Glace cotton in six different colours, a total of 33 gms.

The Sally Swing Sweater by NaturallyNora This listing is for a crochet pattern for The Sally Swing Sweater, part of The Books and Pens Collection, available for instant download. The Sally Swing Sweater would be an adorable addition to any back to school wardrobe. This pattern includes 5 sizes from 2T all the way to Child 12-14, which can also be worn as an Adult Extra Small. I love the four button closure and sixties silhouette. The round neck, bell shaped volume of the body, and slightly cropped length give it a distinct vintage twist.
Haz Wool, Will Knit: January 2012 Not that I like to be seen to pander too much to my blogger stats and comments, but it does seem that there are a few people out there who would like to know how I made my Killing Jumper. I'm not going to describe what follows as a pattern, it is more working notes on what I did. I hope they make sense and provide some help, if not drop me a line.

Seed Stitch Mittens and Hand Warmers Many of us would agree, I think, that seed stitch is one of knitting’s most refined patterns, as elegant as Grace Kelly and as classic as argyle. But what may go a little under appreciated is the feel of seed stitch. A firm seed stitch has a wonderfully satisfying texture, like warm pebbles on a garden path or like crisp kernels on a sweet cob of corn. In the dark, I’d take a swatch of seed stitch over stockinette any day! And so I thought, why not put the feeling of seed stitch literally at my fingertips?
