This Rawsome Vegan Life Quick Recipes & Easy Recipe Ideas - Tablespoon Roasted Strawberry and Toasted Coconut Popsicles It feels like everyone is on vacation, in the sun, under palm trees, at the pool, living WELL (with good vacation hair)! I’m happy for them. I’m definitely really happy for them. We should all take it to the beach these days. Hm… here’s the part where I encourage you to treat yo’ self. Ps. Let’s be a little bit fancy. Roasting strawberries concentrates their crazy good summer flavors and brings out their tart and their sweet. If we’re roasting, we might as well be toasting! Toasted coconut is nutty and adds the perfect amount of chew to our popsicles. Once the strawberries are well roasted, they go into the food processor with a bit of sugar and lime juice. Coconut flakes are stirred into coconut milk. What happens next is a simple spoon, layer, and freeze. Let it be easy! After a night in the freezer our popsicles are ready to go! I hope you’re treating yourself right at this start to summer! Roasted Strawberry and Toasted Coconut Popsicles makes 10 to 12 popsicles Print this Recipe!

I have a couple of pretty gigantic projects going on right now, and while moving a mile a minute isn't my preferred way to live, it's been a reality. At times, I move so fast that I forget to eat, and I get clumsy and frantic. That'll knock the wind right out of a lady's magic fairy wings. To make sure I stay on top of it all, I need a nourishing and energizing breakfast. For years, the smoothie routine was yogurt, orange juice, and frozen fruit. So I did a smoothie revamp. May your days be productive and peaceful, and may you bring great energy and magic to whatever your work might be. Super-Power Morning Smoothie Serves 1 1 cup unsweetened coconut water 2 tablespoons almond butter 1 tablespoon flax oil 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon Place all ingredients in a blender and puree until completely uniform in color and all the bits of green are pulverized.
Back On Track Green Monster (Banana-Free) Aside from my current career in the food business, many of you may not know that I also moonlight as a Barber. The job is not to be taken lightly as it requires a fine attention to detail and precision, something I have no place in assuming much skill. However, I’ve had some practice in this area with recipe development and I figure it’s always wise to develop a new skill set for the resume. Every month, Eric calls me into the bathroom where I find him stripped down to his boxers with his Deluxe hair trimming set splayed about, clutching the large electric trimmer in one hand. The most difficult aspect of this task is by far the point at which I have to trim the base of his hairline and make a very, very, very straight line. "Looks good to me", I say with a nod then disappear from the room. Except this time Eric returned home from work with some rather upsetting news. "Pete had a good laugh today." "Oh yea?" "We were out for lunch and Pete gave a couple glances at the back of my hair. 1.

The Green Smoothie That Made the News The Democratic National Convention is over and my mind is really spinning. The amount of information I’ve learned and discovered about our leaders in Washington and what they think regarding our food policy here in America is mind blowing. Until I get all my thoughts, notes, etc. organized, I want to share the special shake recipe I made for WCNC – NBC News Channel 6 last week when they came to my home for breakfast to interview me about being an elected North Carolina delegate to the DNC. It’s a new version of the infamous Hari Shake (Hari, my last name, means green in Hindi) and it’s by far my favorite these days. This recipe tastes like a sweet tart (you know, the candy from Willy Wonka) that I haven’t had in years. To my surprise both the camera man and reporter Ann Sheridan drank their entire shake. Come inside my kitchen, watch the video and read the whole story here: WCNC NBC News Channel 6: Food Blogger and DNC Delegate Hopes to Get Obama’s Attention (August 29, 2012) Food Babe P.S.
Organic Homemade Starbucks Frappuccino Wonder why companies like Starbucks don’t list all their ingredients on their website? How many consumers are really willing to call, email and ask busy baristas about the ingredients? I don’t know too many, and Starbucks is betting on us not to ask. After repeated visits to Starbucks locations and exchanging several emails, I found out the ingredients of their famous frappuccinos and figured out why they want to make it hard for the consumer to get this information. Just take a look at the ingredients: Sugar, being the first ingredient in any product is a huge warning sign. This type of caramel isn’t the stuff you make at home by cooking sugar. And if you think you are saving yourself calories from sugar by getting the light version of the Frappuccino, you are replacing that sugar with yet another carcinogen called carrageenan that I’ve discussed before. Substances like caramel coloring & carrageenan are slowly poisoning us. There is good news though. Cheers! Food Babe P.S.
