After all, existence stays out there no matter what we think of it.
Indianapolis Schools Ban Atheism Websites Indianapolis Schools Ban Atheism Website by Jesse Galef The Indianapolis Public School system has a policy to ban certain websites from being viewed at school. I certainly hated it when I was in high school (we found ways to bypass it if course) but it’s a reasonable idea. And the list of subjects banned is pretty straightforward: Pornography, Social Networking, Atheism and “Alternative Spirituality”, Games – Wait, what? World religions Menu Sponsored link. Allegory of the Cave Plato realizes that the general run of humankind can think, and speak, etc., without (so far as they acknowledge) any awareness of his realm of Forms. The allegory of the cave is supposed to explain this. In the allegory, Plato likens people untutored in the Theory of Forms to prisoners chained in a cave, unable to turn their heads. All they can see is the wall of the cave. Behind them burns a fire. Drugs and the Meaning of Life (Photo by JB Banks) (Note 6/4/2014: I have revised this 2011 essay and added an audio version.—SH) Everything we do is for the purpose of altering consciousness.
Why atheism is winning-11: Some concluding thoughts The last hope of religion is the fear of death. Fear of death is what religion thinks of as its trump card. In any discussion with believers, they will invariably get around to talking about how you (as an atheist) are risking your immortal soul and ask whether you are not fearful of what will happen in the afterlife. By Mano Singham I know that this is coming and tell people who raise this that when I die, nothing spectacular will happen and that I will simply cease to be, with my body returning to the basic elements. JESUS COMPLEX: Is Jesus God? Jesus Complex Have you ever met a man who is the center of attention wherever he goes? Some mysterious, indefinable characteristic sets him apart from all other men. Well, that’s the way it was two thousand years ago with Jesus Christ. But it wasn’t merely Jesus’ personality that captivated those who heard him.

Quantum theory and consciousness Preface to part 1 (April 12, 2000) Let Atheists (or Jews or Muslims) Care For Your Pets After the Rapture For a small fee, of course. Via Tyler Cowen, two websites -- Eternal Earth-Bound Pets, USA and JesusPets – that promise a service in which atheists who are also animal-lovers agree to care for the pets of those taken in the rapture. From Eternal Earth-Bound Pets: You've committed your life to Jesus. The Jesus Parallels The Jesus Parallels (1st edition, 2007) by Roger Viklund Umeå, Sweden The present essay is principally a translation of one chapter out of 30 from my book written in Swedish, Den Jesus som aldrig funnits (in English: The Jesus That Never Was). You can also find the original Swedish article, Jesusparallellerna, at my Swedish web site. Apart from the Introduction and the Summary, which I have partly rewritten, I have made only some minor changes; I have removed some things and added others.
StumbleUpon Canada A land of vast distances and rich natural resources, Canada became a self-governing dominion in 1867 while retaining ties to the British crown. Economically and technologically the nation has developed in parallel with the US, its neighbor to the south across an unfortified border. Is "Freethinker" Synonymous with Nontheist? Jeffery Jay Lowder In this column, I want to consider two distinct but closely related questions: (1) can a theist be a freethinker?; and (2) are all nontheists freethinkers? I shall argue that the answer to (1) is "yes" and the answer to (2) is "no." I shall then argue that nontheists should stop using the word "freethinker" as an umbrella term. Can a Theist be a Freethinker?
Fatwa: Necrophilia Is Now Halal in Morocco Views: 34338 New York / Morocco Board News--- Yes, we do have a freak show going on these days.
