5 Minute Halter Top Seriously. This is so simple that it may even take you longer to pull out your sewing machine and set up than to actually make this top! How fabulous is that?! We found this idea here, and with the hot weather we've been having around here lately we thought now was the perfect time to whip one up! What You Need: 1 large square scarf (or large square of material, hemmed on all sides)something to tie around your neck (cord, ribbon, necklace...we used a chain to add some sass!) Sew across that edge to form a casing (not sure if the photo shows this very well...). Run your cord/ribbon/necklace through your casing and tie it around your neck. Then tie the corners on the left and right side around your back (if they are not long enough to tie around your back, simply sew on some fabric or ribbon to crate a longer tie). Ta-da!

65 Free Clothes Patterns Posted on | October 9, 2008 | 7 Comments I originally became interested in patternless sewing, many years ago, because I had a hard time finding patterns in my size. Nowadays, patterns in large sizes abound. Nonetheless, I still love my pattern free sewing. These patterns generally of three types. Skirts are very easy to make without a pattern. I came across a few patterns that didn’t fit into any other category, so I gave them their own. We normally assume underwear is too complicated or to time consuming to sew ourselves. Aprons can usually be whipped up in less than an hour. Shirts and dresses are much more complicated to make than skirts. Coats can easily be the most expensive piece of clothing in your wardrobe. The "Charming" Little Skirt: A Tutorial This is my first tutorial, so if you have questions please feel free to ask, especially if something doesn't make sense. I hope that I don't forget to explain everything. Please use this tutorial only for your own personal use and please do not sell skirts made from this pattern. Sooooo..... This little skirt is made from 5 inch squares of material. Materials and tools needed for the job: 32 coordinating 5 inch squares of fabric. 16 inch piece of 1/4 inch elastic. 1. 2. 3. Shirred Top {Tutorial} You'll need:Two coordinating prints. One for the body, and one for the straps and ruffle. Of course you could choose more or just use one. And patchwork or strips of fabric would be fun too.Coordinating thread and ric rac if desired. I need to go back and add ric rac above my ruffles.Measurements: Chest, length from underarm to hem (for top or dress length) and from underarm over the shoulder for strap length.Rotary cutter, mat and ruler really make this project fast, but you can certainly do it without them.Elastic thread to hand wind on to your bobbin. If her chest measurement is 22" around then you would just need to cut two pieces of fabric that are 22" wide + 1" for a 1/2" seam allowance (SA) on each side. The length of the fabric will be the measurement from her underarm to the desired hem length minus the ruffle. *You should add about 1 extra inch in the length to account for the bodice shrinking up a little due to the shirring. And last, you'll need to cut two shoulder straps.
