10 Wordless Videos that Teach Problem Solving - Speech is Beautiful
I work in teletherapy, which means that I use a computer to display my materials and activities for my students. I have a couple extremely quiet older elementary students and I decided that video was a way to engage and encourage them to answer questions and retell events. In particular I wanted them to think about solving hypothetical problems. I found 10 WORDLESS videos on YouTube that show interesting problems and make kids think about how to solve a problem — and they have to provide the language! Everyday Digital Schooling – implementing tablets in Norwegian primary school. Examining outcome measures in the first cohort Introduction Lack of research-based knowledge about the effects of educational technology as tablets in school has been identified as one urgent challenge in school both internationally and in Norway. One of the reasons for this is that, for example, the PISA study, Students, Computers and Learning reveals that: “(…) we have not yet become good enough at the kind of pedagogies that make the most of technology” (OECD 2015, p. 5). This trailing research is positioned towards this “gap” within the research area and examines the first (of five) cohorts in the Municipality of Bærum’s “Everyday Digital Schooling” tablet project which implies examining outcome measures regularly through our longitudinal research design. This is the first large-scale effect study of implementation of tablets in Norwegian primary school where the outcome measures are external for the intervention, as recommended by, for example, Cheung and Slavin (2013).
