How to Increase Your Local Business Facebook Reach in Minutes a Day
Small local businesses and many nonprofit organizations have unique challenges in online marketing, largely due to their restricted budgets. Facebook is a marketing platform many believe, at first, to be “free.” As they inevitably learn, nothing in life or business is free. Facebook, especially, can be a time-suck and a business owner’s time is money. Without the budget for Facebook ads or a professional social media manager, it’s challenging to build a base of engaged local fans. A lot of small business owners know they should be in the space but are unsure of the potential ROI.
Breakfast Burritos
I let you in on a little secret yesterday on my Monday Menu post - I don't usually cook breakfast - Mountain Man does. However, there are some things that I do cook - and one of those things are Breakfast Burritos. Now, I have to say, right up front, this is my interpretation of a recipe I found on The Pioneer Woman's blog. (If you would like to see her recipe - here is the link - Dee's recipe is great, but I think it takes a lot of time - Mountain Man and I love my version just as much - and it is quick and easy!
Barefoot Contessa's Basil Parmesan Mashed Potatoes
My hubby loves meat and potatoes. One day he actually came up to me after breakfast while he was gnawing on a sausage link saying, "You know, I should really try this low carb thing - I mean I love eggs, sausage and bacon..." Let's just say that was the shortest diet in history. All it took was a little reminder of his love for all things potato and his diet was a goner. Whether their chips, mashed, scalloped, baked, roasted or any other type of preparation - he loves them.

Coconut Mango Oat Muffins Recipes from The Kitchn
Mornings are meant for muffins. They're portable, easy to throw together, and can incorporate the season's fruit beautifully. Such is the case with these vanilla-flecked, oat and coconut-strewn, mango-laden beauties. I love these muffins for many reasons. First, you can mix them by hand and there will be very few dishes (always a good thing). Second, they rely on my most favorite fat for cooking and baking: coconut oil.
Autumn Delight Cake
So it turns out this cake has more ingredients than any cake I have ever made! And when I started to write the cake description in the blog title, I realized that there are 18 words and two ampersands in the name. Yep. Okay, ready? The Autumn Delight cake is a 4-Layer Sweet Potato & Ginger Layer Cake with Toasted Marshmallow Filling, Candied Pecans and Brown Sugar & Cinnamon Buttercream. When I tried to edit that, I realized that each one of those ingredients are key, and I couldn’t bare the thought of taking any words away.
Mini Breakfast Pizza
A couple weeks ago I instragrammed a picture of breakfast pizzas I made here at my little inn. Several of you have been asking and emailing me for the recipe. Well, I finally had the chance to make them again and was able to snap a few pictures this time. So, without future adieu, here is my recipe for Mini Breakfast Pizza! This recipe is adapted from Pillsbury’s Recipe for Ham, Swiss and Cheddar Breakfast Pizza. Here’s what you’ll need to make four mini pizzas:
Crash Hot Potatoes
Man, do I love Australia. First, my oldest daughter was conceived there on our honeymoon…and while we’re on the subject, have I ever shared with you that we almost named her “Sydney” as a nod to her point of origin? In the end, I chickened out, though—I thought that might be a little corny, and truth be told, I think she was actually conceived in Brisbane. But I’ll stop there. This is a family-friendly website.
Lemon-Lime Bars
From now on whenever I think of lemon bars I’ll be reminded of the time that I first met a group of cousins I never knew I had. We all convened at my parents’ house (it turns out they don’t live that far away) for dinner the day after Christmas, just ten days ago. Their great-great-great-grandfather was my great-great-grandfather. I did the calculation and determined that makes us 3rd cousins once removed. It’s a distant relation, but family is family. One of my “new” cousins, about my same age, brought over lemon bars that day.
