Scrap It: Gift Card Case or Biz Card Holder Ahhhhh, the gift card. It seems to be such a common choice, and not just as a last minute grab for someone hard to shop for. Gift cards appear to be the go-to gift for anyone and any occasion. Let's face it - they're easy to find, quick to buy, come in any denomination, and are... stunningly impersonal. Maybe it's just me, but a gift card seems to say, "I couldn't really be bothered to find you a present; how about you go get yourself a little something?" DIY Sunprint emballage My go-to DIY seems to perpetually be a tote bag. Once you’ve got the basic technique down, you can churn one out in less than an hour. I’m always looking for an excuse to make one, and I get most excited when I can add a simple twist to make it into something totally new and different. In this case, a tried and true sewing technique plus an innovative product makes for a one-of-a-kind but decidedly utilitarian garden tote.

How to customise & recycle your old t-shirts T-shirts have a lifespan, they don’t last forever, they stretch, they fade, they get stained, and sometimes the tees stay the same but the owner changes size, or just changes their taste. This got me thinking, “what do you do with a tee when you don’t want to wear it anymore? (and you don’t want to give them to charity for whatever reason)” I’ve got more than 200 t-shirts in my wardrobe (and out of it, and draped on chairs, and stacked in cupboards, and hanging on racks), and they don’t all fit me now, so I thought I’d hunt around and find out what they devil I could do with all those superflous tees. As it turns out, other people have this problem too, and there are loads of tutorials out there with interesting ideas for how to recycle your t-shirts into something ‘new’.

zippered keychain clutch usually i don't mind doing laundry...but i hate having to trek around with all my stuff only to realize that i forgot quarters. and i'm the only one with a key to the laundry area which means if i'm not home my boyfriend can't do laundry, not that he would anyway lol. so i decided to make a little pouch to hold quarters that i could also keep on a keychain with the key to the laundry room. Supplies: -(2) 5"x4" pieces of outer fabric -(2) 5"x4" pieces of lining fabric -(1) 4" zipper -interfacing Day 21 - Fabric boxes I found a few pics of these sweet little fabric boxes in the latest issue of Cotton Time and thought I'd make one to sit on the table to hold Christmas nibbles etc.. At the moment though Bella and James are using it to hold textas and christmas cards! So easy to make - just sandwich two pieces of fabric (for the top and bottom) plus a piece of interfacing (to stiffen it a little) and some ribbon for the ties....stitch together and turn in the right way and then you have a sweet little box that can be untied and rolled up when you want to store it.

Porte lipstick These cute little keychain chapstick holders make great gifts since they are so useful and easy to stitch up! They would make great teacher appreciation gifts or simple gifts for your friends and neighbors. Amy of Ameroonie Designs is here with us sharing a free tutorial for the chapstick holders. Save With kids heading back to school and the terrible dry winter months coming, I decided it was time to make my family some new chapstick holders.

Tissue case tutorial I’ve used my new sewing machine to make these very simple tissue cases from scrap of linen fabrics. They are basically a lined fabric rectangle folded to meet at the center. I make the outer fabric longer than the lining fabric so it automatically folded inside, because I don’t like the lining fabric showing at the edge. It also eliminates the need of topstitching. I was so excited when Beth from Sew Mama Sew! invited me to contribute to their Back to School month of projects. I thought it would be the perfect time to actually make the laptop bag I wanted for quite some time. Right after I received the colorful-and-oh-so-awesome fabrics from designer Jessica Jones, I knew I had to use them for this project, her fabrics are one of my top favorites, so you should check them out! Actually it was so hard for me to pick just one fabric, I used 2 different ones, one for the front and one for the back! I love it because it’s like I have 2 bags in one, I just switch the side!
