Bat Speed Research In this article, Batspeed.com uses video analysis to show that rotational drills increase bat speed more than linear drills. Linear drills promote an (A to B) hand path while rotational drills promotes a circular hand path to increase bat speed. A circular hand path induces a "Pendulum Effect" that produces angular acceleration of the bat. The smooth powerful swing of the game's top hitters is the product of "rotational mechanics." However, for decades nearly all batting instructions, whether taught by coaches or described in books and videotapes, were based on a "Linear Swing Model." As the video below shows, none of the linear cues mentioned above will help a batter maximize their bat speed. An overhead view of the hand-path of the best hitters clearly shows they do not extend their hands in a linear (A to B) path. Conclusion: Practicing drills from a linear model will not allow you to maximize your bat speed. Jack Mankin Additional Rotational Hitting Information A. A. A. A.

DISH Satellite TV Talquin Electric Cooperative TCU's Extreme Hustle Pays Off TCU's Extreme Hustle Pays Off By LOU PAVLOVICH, JR. Editor/Collegiate Baseball FORT WORTH, Tex. — Hustle is one of the most important elements in the game of baseball. However, way too many players walk or slowly jog to their positions defensively and do the same coming back to the dugout. This lack of respect for the game causes the blood to boil with coaches who strive for hustle. If you were paying attention to games at the College World Series last June, one of the most refreshing sights in the 64-year history of the CWS took place when Texas Christian University took the field. They hustled at the level that had never been seen before in CWS history. For baseball purists, it was a thing of beauty to watch. Let’s say a fly ball was hit down the right field line with the rightfielder, second baseman and first baseman chasing the ball to catch it. After the play, each of these fielders sprinted back to their normal defensive positions when the play was over if it was less than three outs.

HitTrax | Hit Beyond the Cage Notre Dame was the first college program in the country to use the high-tech system. Statistics have always been part of the foundation of baseball. From the time the first player stepped into the batters box, players and fans alike have been tracking performance using traditional statistics such as batting average (AVG), runs batted in (RBI) and earned run average (ERA). More recently, the introduction of sabermetrics has redefined how a player is valued, with on-base plus slugging (OPS) and wins above replacement (WAR) becoming key metrics used for constructing a team. While the emergence of sabermetrics changed the manner in which the game is analyzed and even played, recent advancements in technology continue to push the envelope in terms of how players are evaluated. The latest technological innovation to improve player training is the HitTrax Data Capture & Simulation System.
