QR codes are probably the most popular and flexible two-dimensional barcode that is used by most businesses and individuals for anything from their marketing campaigns, education and even in ordinary lives and lets not forget just for fun! Crowdsourcing Digital Breakouts - Get Paid for Your Contributions Earlier this week I shared Metaverse's directions for creating digital breakout games. Yesterday, I had a conversation with Johnathan Miller, one of the founders of Metaverse, who was excited to share that they are now paying teachers for making digital breakout games. Use the free Metaverse platform to create a digital breakout game to use in your classroom. If your game meets the criteria that Metaverse has outlined here, you can submit it to be included in Metaverse's database of breakout games. Three Geography Games Based on Google Maps and Google Earth One of the things that I emphasize to students before they embark on any kind of research or problem-solving task is to take a good long look at the information that they already have before them. To that end, I'll often request that they construct a list of what they know about a topic or problem before they begin to search. Playing one of the following three Google Maps-based games is a fun way to reinforce the concept of using prior knowledge and observations. GeoGuessr is an addictive geography game that is based on the Google Maps Street View imagery. When you visit GeoGuessr you can choose to play as a single player or you can register to challenge another player. The game is played the same way whether you choose single player or challenge mode.

New Kahoot! mobile app is live! Make homework awesome A couple of months ago at ISTE, we invited you to preview our new mobile app. Those of you who joined our beta testing program got a sneak peek before the final launch. And we’ve been extra busy over the summer to put the finishing touches on the app. Now it’s official – we’re unwrapping our new creation! Fall Time-lapse - A Video Project The fall is my favorite season of the year. I love waking up to cold, crisp mornings then enjoying mild days outside. In fact, that's what I'm planning to do tomorrow morning. This time of year always reminds me of one of my favorite uses for time-lapse video creation tools. The outline of my time-lapse of autumn project is included below. The idea is to take one picture every day to document the changes in the foliage as we progress through autumn from the first few orange leaves to full-blown autumn foliage colors to the drab brown we see after in the winter.
How Students Can Use Timeline Templates in the Classroom As a foreign language teacher, I am always looking for innovative ways to allow my students to demonstrate what they have learned. I want students to be able to choose a tool that brings out their creative side and, as a result, leads to a more authentic and meaningful learning experience. Because learning a language can be difficult, I try to design a variety of activities and projects that will provide students with practice and unique opportunities to develop their language skills through the creation of their projects.
