Frozen Butterbeer for the Deathly Hallows Premiere – Cook Like a Champion There’s something you might not know about me. I’m a huge fan of the Harry Potter books and movies. I wasn’t always, but once I watched one movie, I was hooked. I was devastated when I found out Eric and I were moving away from Orlando before Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Luckily, we were able to fly back over the summer and use our season passes one last time. Even though it was incredibly hot and crowded, it was totally worth it to be able to experience a small part of the Harry Potter world. Butterbeer, for those who don’t know, is a favorite drink of young witches and wizards. Looking for more Harry Potter recipes to celebrate the premiere of Deathly Hallows this week? And Now for Something Completely Delicious: Peach Sangria Sorbet For me, this is the Summer of Sangria. I cannot get enough. It seems every weekend I’m pouring some wine, whatever liqueur I have on hand, and some fruit together in a pitcher, either to share with friends or enjoy with my husband. A glass of chilled sangria out on our deck in the evening is my new favorite thing. I have to give some credit to Tina of My Life as a Mrs. whose sangria recipe essentially started this whole thing. I love a traditional red wine sangria, but I’ve found that white wine works just as well. With sangria on my mind so much recently, it was only a matter of time before I thought to turn it into a frozen dessert. I created this recipe with the hope that it really would be a scoop-able form of the beverage, and before being poured into my ice cream machine, I gladly would have drank it up. Peach Sangria Sorbet Makes approximately 1 quartPrint this recipe Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium high heat. *I used dry Riesling.
Baked Eggs with Bacon and Spinach Do y’all remember the scene in Runaway Bride (that’s an Oscar contender if I’ve ever seen one…) where Julia Roberts realizes that she doesn’t know how she likes her eggs? You know, because she’s always turning herself into the girl that the guy she’s marrying wants to be with? Yeah. That’s not me. I know how I like my eggs, although I will say that it depends on the day. If it’s a scrambled kind of day then I want them scrambled with NO MILK, a tab of butter, and salt and pepper. Hey, I’m an independent woman…throw your hands up at me. Now that we’ve established my egg-eating habits, though, I have to say – baked eggs are kind of amazing, an unexpected new love in my egg-eating life. Serves 2, but this can be split in half easily to make them in small individual ramekins. 4 whole eggs3-4 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked and chopped1/2 cup loosely packed spinach2 Tbsp cream2 Tbsp butter, meltedsalt and pepper to taste1/4 tsp thyme Preheat oven to 375. So now it’s your turn – egg fan?

How to Make Margarita Cupcakes | RecipeGirl.com Cinco de Mayo will soon be here (May 5th for those non-Spanish speakers). Though it’s a Mexican holiday, here in Southern California, Cinco de Mayo celebrations are pretty widespread… mostly an excuse to eat Mexican food and partake in downing a few margaritas. We had a party last year for that very reason. These Margarita Cupcakes are fun for a Cinco de Mayo party, but they surely can be made for any festive, adult occasion…emphasis on adult. Also in these cupcakes is margarita mix and Grand Marnier. These are simple cupcakes that begin with a box of white cake mix. The icing is a Lime Buttercream. I thought this might be a fun way to serve them too, but then things might get kind of, um, interesting when you have your guests licking the bottoms of the shot glasses. Have fun with these… They were a big hit with my taste testers! This recipe can be found here: Margarita CupcakesYou might also like this recipe for: Margarita Cake

Getting Into the Green (sorry, it's not about money) Getting our kids to eat their veggies can be tough, even kids who like veggies can have a hard time eating the proper amount. They are always on the run and need lots of good energy foods.A few months ago I picked up a book called The Raw Detox Diet for myself. I was feeling a bit sluggish and needed a good inner scrubbing! One of the healthful things the author suggests to have every day is something that is brilliantly named Green Lemonade. She says in the book that it can become addicting, I thought ACK how could kale juice become addicting? I gave it the benefit of the doubt and I started juicing this green lemonade every morning. So what's your point Jen? Recipe for Green Lemonade For juicing try to buy organic especially when juicing the peels. for kids cut this in 1/2 and add ice to dilute and you can drink the rest. Warning: this can be intense so start small and work up, I do double this recipe in the am for myself. Tip: 1 apple, cut peel on 1/2 lemon, cut, peel on
The 10 manliest cocktails (and how to make them) Spoon Fork Bacon — Page 5 - StumbleUpon This Sunday my boyfriend and I will be running in our very first 5k. I’m so scared….like petrified. We moved into a new apartment a couple months ago, which happens to be right next to the beach. When we moved we promised each other and ourselves that we would try our hardest to not take living by the water for granted and that we would make the most of beach living. Something we’ve taken up due to the move are beach runs. Anyway, I have no idea why, but this time around things are different. Something that’s keeping me a little more motivated about the run this Sunday and having to get up early, is that fact that I’ll be making these pickled pulled pork sandwiches. This is actually the only dish I make in a slow cooker (specifically our multifunction Cuisinart 3-in-1 Cook Central). Slow Cooker Pickled Pulled Pork Sandwiches Serves 7 to 9 14-18 slices thick cut white bread, lightly toasted 2/3 cup mayonnaise, divided 1. *The Cuisinart 3-in-1 Cook Central was gifted to us by Cuisinart.
Scotch Whisky, Tasting - How to The Nose Whisky tasting is done principally with the nose - a far more acute organ than the tongue, although the two interrelate as the sample is swallowed. While there are only four primary tastes, there are 32 primary smells. These are aromatic volatiles, which are detected by a small fleshy bulb called the Olfactory Epithelium, located at the back of our noses and having a direct link to the brain. The Tongue As well as registering the primary tastes, the tongue also detects what is termed 'mouthfeel' - the viscosity, texture and smoothness of the fluid we are swallowing - and 'pungency' (which is essentially an evaluation of pain - from irritation to unbearable - and is also picked up by the nose). Flavour Is a combination of three factors: smell, taste and feeling. Our noses detect scents - nuances of flavour from volatile aromatics - and pass this information direct to our brains. Primary tastes are registered by little sensory receptors on our tongues and palates.

Top 10 Popular Shot & Shooter Recipes | The Intoxicologist Today, September 22, marks the day for the fastest drinking record; Dustin Phillips of the United States consumed a 14 ounce bottle of Ketchup through a 1/4” straw in 33 seconds flat ten years ago. Ketchup seems a nasty ‘beverage’ to guzzle willingly, yet many enthusiastic participants flock to bars weekly to start (or end) the evening with the downing of a shot that none would eagerly sip slowly enough to take in the flavor or texture for a lingering moment on the tongue. Admittedly there are many shot recipes that make the conversion to cocktail easily. The Oatmeal Cookie shot is an outstanding example. However, many prefer shots and shooters too horrid to down without holding the nose or throwing them back feverishly with a beer chaser or *gasp* water back. I know…I mentioned the word ‘water’ in a cocktail post. Buttery Nipple 1 ounce Butterscotch Schnapps 1/2 ounce Irish Cream Pour Butterscotch Schnapps in bottom of a shot glass.
