Rubrics and Rubric Makers As we all know grading is the most necessary procedures of our career. It might just be me, but grading is the bane of my existence. Do you feel the same way? Grading large works, especially towards the end of the school year, feels like it is an endless and mindless process. I remember a few years back when I helped grade over 4,000 essays from a neighboring school district. The only thing I can relate the feeling of completing that grading session was giving birth to my daughter. When you grade large works of any kind it is very difficult for even the most competent people to remain 100% objective. Not only do rubrics lead to better equality in assessment, but it gives you standard that will help you understand exactly what you are looking for in the quality of work. Rubrics are essential to grading student assignments effectively. Rubrics make grading quicker, clearer, and more objective. 10 Wordless Videos that Teach Problem Solving - Speech is Beautiful I work in teletherapy, which means that I use a computer to display my materials and activities for my students. I have a couple extremely quiet older elementary students and I decided that video was a way to engage and encourage them to answer questions and retell events. In particular I wanted them to think about solving hypothetical problems. I found 10 WORDLESS videos on YouTube that show interesting problems and make kids think about how to solve a problem — and they have to provide the language! Piper Short Movie — A baby bird finds a way to survive a big wave. Ormie the Pig — A pig attempts to get a jar of cookies off of the top of the fridge. Birds on a Wire — Learn how you should treat others (that are different than you)Sticky Tape — What should the cat do when tape is sticking to him? Since it’s YouTube, so you must preview each video and usually there is an ad in front of it. Related

Gondolattérképek | Tanulásmódszertan Gyarmathy Éva „Your brain is like a sleeping giant.” A Gondolattérkép hatásrendszerének háttere

Everyday Digital Schooling – implementing tablets in Norwegian primary school. Examining outcome measures in the first cohort Introduction Lack of research-based knowledge about the effects of educational technology as tablets in school has been identified as one urgent challenge in school both internationally and in Norway. One of the reasons for this is that, for example, the PISA study, Students, Computers and Learning reveals that: “(…) we have not yet become good enough at the kind of pedagogies that make the most of technology” (OECD 2015, p. 5). If a particular combination of hardware, software, print materials, professional development for teachers, and other elements can be reliably replicated in many classrooms, then it is worth evaluating as a potential means of enhancing student outcomes (Cheung and Slavin 2013, p. 90). The establishment of Bærum Municipality’s “Everyday Digital Schooling” school development-project initiative commenced at five schools in Bærum in January 2015. In this first cohort of the trailing research, we only examine the quantitative effects of this implementation. Methodology
