Colouring Resin My new Christmas Story necklace should turn a few heads this holiday season. I do hope it makes people smile. If you have never seen the movie "A Christmas Story" you would not know about the scene when the father wins a terribly funny leg lamp and proudly displays it in their front window for all the neighbours to see.... This post begins with an admission. I made a HUGE resin-related mistake. The ice cube tray I used, I had to destroy in order to get my one special leg lamp out of it. I did not pre-test the mold. If I had, I would have realized resin would stick to it like glue. My mold had to be cut up in order to free my leg lamp, The sad part was the molded leg was just perfect! I just could not get it out of the mold, so I cut away at the ice cube tray and tugged and stretched until the lamp was free. And really, who needs more than one leg lamp necklace? I coloured my lamp with gold metallic wax and sealed it with Resin Spray. I hand-drilled a hole for stringing. My finished necklace!

The Resin Doming Technique Explained! First, let's begin with a little eye candy. I have a very cool new bracelet. It is made of vintage watch parts and an old dis-assembled bracelet . Last week I posted this image of some resin I poured into some old watch faces. This was my watch face with one layer of resin. Then I mixed up Envirotex Lite as I normally would and chose to pour it into this tiny squeeze bottle. With my squeeze bottle I was able to control how much resin was now on the watch face, one drip at a time. That tiny edge kept the dome's shape. If you had poured resin onto a flat surface it would just spread until the dome was gone. The only thing you need to worry about with this technique is working somewhere flat and sturdy. That would be the end of my lesson but I thought I would tell you how I made the bracelet. I broke it up for spare parts and then rebuilt my bracelet! It is so unique!

Large, round pendants - Ideas These pendants were cast in chocolate moulds. We used pictures and lace as added decorations. You will need • resin and hardener (we used 100g Pacote 600 resin and 50g HY 2963 hardener) • plastic or metal moulds (we used plastic chocolate moulds) • pictures and added decorations of your choice • thongs, chains, ribbon or lace • metal rings or thin wire • modge podge • paintbrush • scissors • plastic measuring jug (Note You won’t be able to use it again) • plastic spoons • toothpicks • Prestik or masking tape • rubber gloves NOTE • If the resin is milky before you mix in the hardener, heat it so it is completely clear. To make 1 Paint an even, thin coat of modge podge over your pictures. 2 Cut the pictures to fit the moulds exactly and place a picture in each mould. 3 Put on a pair of protective rubber gloves, place your plastic measuring jug on an electronic scale and set the scale to zero. 4 Pour the mixture into the moulds. 5 Insert the ring before the resin sets completely.
Pucker Up For Winter With DIY Sugar Lip Scrubs It’s time to step up your beauty game for winter, so naturally, the first thing you should do to prep is…raid your pantry! No joke—pantry essentials like oils and sugar are key to natural exfoliating. We showed you how to use these ingredients to create face scrubs to suit your skin type, and now were tackling chapped lips with these six DIY sugar scrubs. We used two bases to create our scrubs. Each has extra virgin coconut oil—an amazing natural moisturizer that’s loaded with antioxidants—and either brown sugar or cane sugar as the exfoliants. The cane sugar was finer, resulting in a more gentle scrub. Adding the rest of the ingredients is up to you—or really, up to your pantry! Ingredients: - brown or white sugar - extra virgin coconut oil - chopped herbs and fruits of your choice - flavor extracts and spices of your choice Instructions: 1. Our first lip scrub combines white sugar, fresh rosemary, and a few drops of peppermint extract. Mix and mash—it’s really that simple!
