Ancêtres Italiens — FamilySearch 1300s-1600s Italian Renaissance. This cultural movement began in Italy and spread to England, France, Germany, and the Netherlands. It was characterized by a revival in ancient Greek and Roman art and philosophy, the development of humanism, and the beginning of modern science. Startups and financial models for SAAS companies The other day I met with an entrepreneur I was advising as he prepared to raise his next round of funding. In the meeting, he wanted me to narrow in and focus on his financial model. Financial models for startups are important from a big picture perspective, but I never like to get mired in the full details as things always change in the early stages. So first and foremost, I let him know that while it was nice to have a well thought out spreadsheet, that the most important thing was getting the product developed and the right team in place. I don't invest based on detailed spreadsheet models - getting comfortable with the team, the problem being solved, and the market opportunity are more important in the early days.

Human Y-chromosome DNA haplogroup Dominant Y-chromosome haplogroups in pre-colonial world populations, with possible migrations routes according to the Coastal Migration Model. In human genetics, a human Y-chromosome DNA haplogroup is a haplogroup defined by differences in the non-recombining portions of DNA from the Y chromosome (called Y-DNA). It represents human genetic diversity based on single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) on the Y chromosome.[1] Y-DNA haplogroups represent major branches of the Y-chromosome phylogenetic tree. Y-chromosomal Adam is the name given by researchers to the patrilineal most recent common ancestor of all living humans at the root of this tree.

The Myth Of Razors And Razor Blades The story of Gillette and the famous "razors and razor blades" business model is legendary at this point. The story goes that King Gillette revolutionized business by coming up with the strategy of selling razors cheaply, but then locking people in to expensive disposable blades, where the margin existed. This strategy has become so well-known that it's mentioned all the time and seen in lots of other industries as well, especially the technology industry.

Human mitochondrial DNA haplogroup Hypothesized world map of human migrations, with the North Pole at center. England Many sets of records were kept for England and Wales together, so that the problems of locating them and using them are very similar in the two countries. For convenience such records are described here, rather than on the British Isles pages. Counties N.B. GENUKI is organised on the basis of historic counties. To find which GENUKI pages cover more modern counties and county boroughs, please see: Modern and Administrative Counties and County Boroughs. Legal intoxicant - Wikipedia Legal intoxicants, also known as legal drugs or, more commonly, as legal highs, are those intoxicating drugs which are either completely legal or not commonly prohibited by various drug laws. The most widely consumed legal intoxicant is alcohol—legal throughout the vast majority of the world's countries—but a wide array of other drugs are also not specifically banned in many international jurisdictions: these may vary from native intoxicating plants historically used by indigenous cultures to foodstuffs eaten in various parts of the world, to modern compounds and designer drugs that have not been defined as illegal, or even long-standing medicines that have intoxicating or anesthetic side effects. Where legislation imposes a general ban on psychoactive substances (as in Ireland), legal intoxicants are limited to those substances specifically exempted. Stimulants[edit] Mephedrone[edit]

Evolution: Modern Synthesis: Introduction Darwin's book, On the Origin of Species met immediate popularity. It sold so well that the publishers undertook a second printing a mere month after the first. However, the ideas contained in Origin were not immediately accepted. Free Genealogy Resources - Home How to find family records using the best free Internet resources Bookmark This Site (Ctrl+D) There are literally millions of web pages on genealogy and it is easy to get lost so that you can't see the forest for the trees. Where do you go first?

I cannot say enough of this wonderful (underated) tool provided by the Church of Jesus-Christ and the Latter Day Saints. Although there are severe transcription issues on foreign records, they are still less afflicted by this than Ancestry.com. The most interesting feature of the new family search website is browsing by family of records : instead of conducting a general search, try picking a group of records relevant to your search by location or types of record. Some of these record sets have images, some have not. But it's a far cry from paying a subscription to the same records on Ancestry when these are free. Family Search also includes a new feature for registered LDS members, with the Legacy genealogy software, allowing to search for matches in your tree and merging individuals. by marylenegoulet Apr 5
