Trump calls GOP coronavirus proposal 'semi-irrelevant' as deal appears far off President Trump on Tuesday called the Senate Republicans' coronavirus relief package "semi-irrelevant" when asked whether he supported the legislation at a news conference, underscoring the deep divides between the White House, congressional Republicans and congressional Democrats as lawmakers scramble to pass something in the coming days. At the end of this week, extra unemployment benefits approved in previous legislation will expire just as millions of Americans will need to pay their rent. Yet Senate Republicans are struggling to rally behind their own $1 trillion proposal, as negotiations with Senate Democrats are set to ramp up.
Coronavirus: Australians download COVIDSafe contact tracing app Image copyright EPA More than a million Australians have downloaded a coronavirus contact tracing app within hours of it being released by the government. The COVIDSafe smartphone app uses a Bluetooth wireless signal to exchange a "digital handshake" with another user when they come within 1.5m (4.9ft). The app then logs this contact and encrypts it. Users will be notified if they have had more than 15 minutes of close contact with another user who tests positive. Australia has recorded 6,694 confirmed coronavirus cases and 80 deaths from the virus, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

ECB advised to allow private investment to boost the Hundred The England and Wales Cricket Board has been urged to open up the Hundred to private investment – including equity stakes for counties and even Indian Premier League team owners – in response to the coronavirus crisis. An ECB board meeting on Wednesday will discuss the tournament’s postponement until 2021 but its chief executive, Tom Harrison, has countered talk of a full cancellation by stressing its importance to English cricket has been “accelerated” by the pandemic. Under the terms of the Hundred, which is owned by the ECB, each of the 18 first-class counties were to receive £1.3m per year from the tournament, with host venues also due £65,000 per match, 30% of ticket sales and hospitality revenues. But though initial instalments made up part of the £61m rescue package provided by the ECB last month, there are no guarantees the full amounts for 2020 will be paid. Harrison has also warned the sport could lose “well in excess of £300m” if no cricket is staged this year.

The shift has been so rapid and frightening, it feels as if the ground beneath us has given way. It is disorienting, as if normal life is just over there, out of reach. I have been through two major bereavements, close together, and this has the same unanchored feeling of grief. The human brain is not wired to tolerate uncertainty, but it is wired to be alert to any threat. So, if you are feeling pandemic panic, it is only natural. People ignore two-metre rule during clap for carers right outside hospital Viral footage appears to show people disregarding social distancing guidelines while taking part in last night’s ‘clap for carers’. In a video watched more than 3 million times on Twitter, members of the public and emergency services stand side by side showing their appreciation for Britain’s key workers – while ignoring advice to remain two metres apart. The clip, filmed by doctor Damir Rafi on London’s Westminster Bridge last night, shows crowds of people, young children and at least three emergency vehicles with their sirens on, near St Thomas’ Hospital. People stand close together throughout the footage, despite experts suggesting that doing so will allow coronavirus to spread more easily. The Metropolitan Police says it is ‘reminding’ its officers about social distancing.
How to Find My Life Purpose If you’re feeling like life is endurance and there “just has to be more”, than chances are you’ve lost your way somewhere along the journey. The greatest and most rewarding adventure of our lives is discovering who we really are. When we find ourselves on the deepest level it profoundly changes how we experience life. Why is it that so many go through life not knowing their true purpose and inner selves? Most people go from cradle to grave either listening to an awful inner critic or they buy into other people’s ideas of what they are supposed to be or should be doing. US accuses Russia of conducting sophisticated disinformation and propaganda campaign Wednesday's report focuses in particular on the Russian government's use of this network to push disinformation about the coronavirus pandemic as it spread across the globe. It does not mention Russian disinformation in the context of the 2020 US presidential election as it falls outside of the mandate of the Department's Global Engagement Center (GEC), which focuses on foreign propaganda and disinformation aimed at foreign audiences. However, on the same day the report was released, the Department unveiled "a reward of up to $10M for information leading to the identification or location of any person who, acting at the direction or under the control of a foreign government, interferes with US elections by engaging in certain criminal cyber activities," in the words of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. "The Kremlin bears direct responsibility for cultivating these tactics and platforms as part of its approach to using information as a weapon," the report says.
Bernie Ecclestone says 2020 F1 championship should be cancelled Former F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone says this season’s Formula One championship should be cancelled because it appears unlikely that enough races can be completed for it to be valid due to the coronavirus crisis. The opening eight rounds of the 2020 season have been either cancelled or postponed, with doubts over a number of the other 14 races as the pandemic continues to overshadow the sporting calendar. A minimum of eight races are required for the championship to be valid, but the former F1 chief executive Ecclestone believes that will not be possible. “We should stop the championship this year and start again next year, hopefully, because I can’t see it’s going to be possible to get the right amount of races in that count for a championship,” the 89-year-old told BBC Radio. “There’s got to be eight from memory, and I can’t see them getting that in. It’s a difficult situation.”
