What is Harper Afraid Of? To My Local MP, What is Stephen Harper afraid of? Rivers that turn black and run into the sea? Or maybe Harper is most afraid of this... I am writing to you because I am afraid of the Harper Government's plans to build the Northern Gateway pipeline straight through the Rocky Mountains. With all the changes that Harper is making... Gutting the fisheries act Trashing the environmental assessment act Overruling the National Energy Board Barring environmental groups from hearings Barring Canadian citizens from hearings (unless they live or work in the area) Speeding up environmental reviews Slashing Environment Canada's budget Silencing the Scientists (and anyone who disagrees with the Harper Government) Lifting the 40 year ban on tankers on B.C.' ... The Harper Government claims they are doing "responsible resource development". The May 2011 report states that contamination of the Athabasca River is a "high profile concern". Why is the government looking the other way? Sincerely,

"Congratulations Jimmy," Leno offered on Wednesday. Fallon, the former "Saturday Night Live" cast member who has made a successful transition to daily TV as the current host of "Late Night," quipped about his time-slot bump from 12:35 a.m. to the 11 p.m. hour. "I'm really excited to host a show that starts today instead of tomorrow," Fallon said. The announcement ends weeks of speculation that there would be changes in the late night landscape, but unlike many television shakeups, this one seems poised for a smooth transition. The Tonight Show" is No. 1 in the ratings, and Leno's place in late-night history is cemented.
How to Doodle, Freehand » Tana's World with Tana Bevan The Question “How do you Doodle?” That’s been a difficult question to answer because Doodling is something I “just do.” Inspired by my recently completed 30-Day Doodle Challenge, here’s my first attempt at breaking down and clarifying the Freehand Doodle process. The Answer, Part One ~ The Tools Doodles I post online are mixed and matched. I use Photoshop for all computer doodle work. When I doodle on paper, I use basic 8-1/2 x 11 copy paper and permanent markers. The Answer, Part Two ~ The Philosophy The basic idea behind a Freehand Doodle is you draw a –>line, dash, dot, shape, squiggle, look at it; add another line, dash, dot, shape, squiggle, look at it. The Answer, Part Three ~ The DIY/Step-by-Step Instructions For the sake of consistency and ease of explanation, the first draw made on each of the three examples was circle-ish. Use 5 or More Social Networks? You're a Better Employee Hey, bosses who block employees from using social media at work: You're doing it wrong. That's one conclusion that can be drawn from new data on the workplace by Evolv, a startup that monitors hundreds of metrics from Fortune 500 companies. Not only has Evolv determined that hourly employees who use social networks are more productive in general, but it seems the more social networks you use, the more productive you are. Hourly employees who regularly used up to four social networks — such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or LinkedIn — made more sales or handled customer service calls faster than those who weren't on any social networks. They also tend to stick around for longer (94 days of tenure with a company on average, compared to 83 days for those who shun social media). Those who use five social networks or more are slightly better at converting sales and handling customer service than employees on four or fewer networks, by 1.5% and 2.8% respectively.
Drawing Tips - Top 10 Mistakes Beginners Make By Helen South Updated December 10, 2014. When you are teaching yourself to draw using books and the internet, it can be difficult to know how to improve. Without a teacher to help, we tend to keep making the same mistakes for longer than a student in a classroom. The key to overcoming this obstacle is to learn to look at your work with a fresh, critical eye. We need mistakes because they help us to learn. For best results in assessing your work, choose a few pieces that you completed some time ago - you can more easily be critical of a work that you haven't only just finished. 1.
LinkedIn Adds Facebook-Style Mentions to Boost Conversations LinkedIn just made it much easier to have a conversation with other users on the social network. LinkedIn announced Thursday that it has started rolling out a new mentions feature that is similar to what's available on Facebook and Twitter. The feature, which was spotted earlier in the day by TheNextWeb, is intended to make it easier for LinkedIn's community to engage with users and companies. "We’re excited to introduce a new way for you to engage with your network through the ability to mention your connections and companies in conversations on LinkedIn," the company said in a blog post. The mentions feature, which is being rolled out to English-speaking users starting today, is more limited than similar options on other social networks.
