InterActivist Info Exchange | Radical media, politics and culture from Autonomedia The Dictionary of Imaginary Places The Dictionary of Imaginary Places (1980, 1987, 1999) is a book written by Alberto Manguel and Gianni Guadalupi. It takes the form of a catalogue of fantasy lands, islands, cities, and other locations from world literature—"a Baedecker or traveller's guide...a nineteenth-century gazetteer" for mental travelling. The book[edit] To remain of manageable size, the Dictionary excludes places that are off the planet Earth (eliminating many science fiction locales), as well as "heavens and hells and places of the future," and literary pseudonyms for existing places, like the Yoknapatawpha County of William Faulkner or the Barsetshire of Anthony Trollope and Angela Thirkell. The book is widely noted for the number and excellence of its illustrations, by Graham Greenfield, and its maps and charts, by James Cook. 10 Most Influential People in the Alternative Media (2011) Activist Post Many readers will expect to see Matt Drudge or Arianna Huffington on this list. Although they both indeed have leading Internet news websites that cover some fringe stories and report on systematic injustices more so than the mainstream media, they primarily aggregate mainline news. Therefore, they are excluded from our “alternative media” label. The criteria we’ve chosen to base these rankings of the most influential alternative media figures are the following; people that have the courage to seek the truth no matter where the information leads them; those with the courage to question 9/11; those who don’t buy into the false left-right political paradigm;those who are grounded in peace and liberty;those with the communication skills and platform to affect real change. Significantly, each of the people who made our list is clearly driven by unyielding passion. 10. , and How the Economy was Lost . 9. . and Don’t Tread on Me . 8. 7. 6. 5. 4. 3. and Speaking of Liberty 2. 1.
