Professor Jim Herod and I have written Multivariable Calculus ,a book which we and a few others have used here at Georgia Tech for two years. We have also proposed that this be the first calculus course in the curriculum here, but that is another story.... Although it is still in print, Calculus,by Gilbert Strang is made available through MIT's OpenCourseWare electronic publishing initiative. Here is one that has also been used here at Georgia Tech. Linear Methods of Applied Mathematics, by Evans Harrell and James Herod. Yet another one produced at Georgia Tech is Linear Algebra, Infinite Dimensions, and Maple, by James Herod.
Arabian Nights - Index
This is an extract of one of the earliest translations of the "Arabian Nights" into English, made by Sir Richard Francis Burton. I got the "flat" ASCII text from a gopher server that has been unavailable for some years now. I have no idea who scanned/typed the text. This extract is not nearly complete. The "arabian nighs" form a huge text corpus, and in translating them, Burton performed a gargantuan work.

@djscruffy: And that's why you're a heathen and should be burned at the stake. @djscruffy: In defense of public schools, I would suggest that the reason many of these books are challenged so often is that they're frequently included in school curriculums and libraries. I grew up in a state that, according to these links, engaged in book-burning less than a decade before my birth. That makes me shudder. But I'm also the child of a public school teacher and am familiar with my mother's and many of her peers' views on children's reading materials.
Free textbooks
From WikiEducator A book shelf project. This is a starter page for the Free Textbooks group that came together during the iCommons Summit in Dubrovnik, Croatia in June 2007. The group's focus is on developing free textbooks (also by using public domain books and other other materials). We seek both to find ways to work together and also to find best practices when working apart. We have a mailing list - please, join us!
The 100 Most Important Things To Know About Your Character (revised)
Quote from original Author(Beth):This list came about when, one day while struggling to develop a character for an upcoming Hunter game, my lovely roommate Nikki looked at me and said something like, "Wouldn't it be cool to have a list of questions you could go through and answer while you were making characters, so you'd make sure to consider all sorts of different elements in their personality?" I agreed, and that very evening we sat down over hot chocolate and ramen noodles to whip up a list of 100 appearance-, history-, and personality-related questions (which seemed like a nice even number) to answer as a relatively easy yet still in-depth character building exercise. Later on, we went through the list again, took out the questions that sucked (because there were a lot of them) and replaced them with better ones. What you see before you is the result of that second revision. Just don't email us specifically to tell us how much we suck.
The Online Books Page: Book Listings
Our local index includes more than 2 million works in various formats that meet these criteria. (Over 50,000 are in our "curated collection", representing entries we've personally edited. The rest are in our "extended shelves", entries that are provided by other organizations and imported in bulk.) All of the books we list should be free at least for personal, noncommercial use.

28 Things That I Have Learned On The Trail by Kimberlie Dame
Kimberlie Dame and I connected on Facebook. She is an experienced backpacker who is planning a three-year hiking trip starting in the spring of 2012. I asked her to share what she has learned so far from her journey so far. She listed 28 things.
