QuickBooks Mobile makes way onto Android tablets
Small businesses that use the QuickBooks Online cloud accounting service now have access to their records via a new mobile application optimized for Android tablets. The design changes are intended to take advantage of the bigger real estate offered by tablets - Intuit wants to keep the roughly 1.3 million users relying on QuickBooks online happy while they are out and about, and it is gambling on a research prediction from Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers (KPCB) that shows users of mobile platforms including smartphones and tablets will outnumber those on laptops by July 2013. The Apple iPhone version of the software is optimized for the iPhone 5. So Intuit is actually emphasizing Android first when it comes to a native tablet application experience. Roughtly one-third of small businesses already own tablet computers; another 31.6 percent plan to purchase one within 12 months, according to the IDC data that Intuit is using.
