Wikitravel Collaborative wiki travel website Wikitravel is a web-based collaborative travel guide based on the wiki format and owned by Internet Brands. It was most active from 2003 through 2012, when most of its editing community left and brought their contributions to the nonprofit Wikivoyage guide.[2] The site was launched by Evan Prodromou and Michele Ann Jenkins in 2003[3][4] as a multilingual effort aiming to cover all the globe's destinations. In 2006, Internet Brands bought the trademark and servers and later introduced advertising to the website.[5] This move met opposition from users, with many German and Italian editors leaving in December 2006 for a newly established wiki, Wikivoyage. History[edit] Wikitravel was started in July 2003 by Evan Prodromou and Michele Ann Jenkins, partly inspired by Wikipedia. Wikitravel does not have a neutral-point-of-view requirement, as it is written from the point of view of a traveler and, instead, encourages editors to "be fair".[9] References[edit]

Google is finally doing something about Google Drive spam A notification pops up on your phone: "Click here for hot XXX action!" It's Google Drive again. Someone shared a document containing that title, and now your phone is begging you to look at it. Even if you ban Google Drive from generating phone notifications, you'll still get emails. If you block the emails, you'll have to see the spam when you click on the "shared" section of Google Drive. The problem is that Drive document sharing was built with no spam-management tools. Google officially acknowledged the problem back in 2019, and the company said it was making spam controls "a priority." Drive sharing works just like email spam. It's like email, but while Gmail has plenty of spam controls, Drive has historically had very few. With the new feature, blocking a user will prevent them from sharing content with you, remove all shares between you and the blocked person, and block them across several other Google services. The feature, which is rolling out over the next two weeks, also stops accounts from accessing any files you’ve shared with them in the past, and removes any of their past files from your drive. “Drive’s sharing capabilities fuel productivity and collaboration, but bad actors can abuse tools that are meant to facilitate helpful sharing,” Google’s announcement post says. The search giant announced the new feature in May. According to Google’s support page, the option to block a user will appear if you right-click a file they’ve shared with you in Drive.
