Singapore’s Tax Rates Continue to Attract Business Updated on Apr 13, 2012 Singapore Business Singapore Taxes Two weeks ago, Japan cut its corporate tax rate to 36.8% from 39.5%, thus handing off the dubious distinction of having the world’s highest corporate tax rates to the United States, which holds combined federal and state tax levies at a staggering 39.2%. For those who own businesses in the US, the news is unwelcome, but not surprising. High corporate income tax rates are at the center of many heated debates across the US, and also one of the key reasons why Singapore is becoming a popular alternative for corporations and entrepreneurs seeking the most favourable business climate. According to the US-based Heritage Foundation, Singapore’s corporate and personal income tax policies and rates have helped the country achieve its current position as the second freest economy in the world.

Prospect Pitch: Bauer reveals repertoire | MiLB.com News To know Trevor Bauer the pitcher is to know this: He recently purchased a high-speed camera and spent days during the offseason watching footage of a baseball leaving his right hand at 480-frames-per-second. Why exactly? "To identify the phenomenon of what's really going on," Bauer said earnestly. Get used to the questions. "I can't really speak for anyone else, but personally, for me, I'm very passionate about my craft and I've always been into science and discovery and all that stuff, so I'm always trying to find a way to get better from season to season. Considering his unique training techniques, detailed in Sports Illustrated last August, he has more time than most. "Three or four of them, I didn't just pick up. And, seemingly, to catch. "So, basically," Bauer said, "he sticks down his thumb and his pointer finger to make a seven-looking figure." Last week, MiLB.com asked Bauer to describe and grade each of the nine pitches he employs. Pitch one: Four-seam fastball Speed: From 80-84.

Why Singapore Could Become The Next Silicon Valley Because of its distinction as the “world’s best business environment” and its strategic location at the gateway to Asia, Singapore is becoming a favorite business relocation destination for tech startups and established technology-based businesses. Take, for example, the case of Bubble Motion, the company responsible for expanding the reach of social media into the Asia-Pacific with the introduction of their voice messaging service “Bubbly, ” a voice version of Twitter that is accessible through cellular phones and devices. For Tom Clayton, the CEO of Bubble Motion, the decision was a practical one. With 50% of his development staff and the majority of his marketing and operations staff in Singapore, Clayton and his team determined that a move across the Pacific would be in his company’s best interest. The decision to relocate to Singapore also made good sense. Bubble Motion is just one of many tech-based organizations choosing to incorporate in Singapore.

Troy Tulowitzki swings once, connects twice for basehit - Big League Stew - MLB Blog An otherwise standard 8-3 victory by the New York Yankees over the Colorado Rockies did feature one unusual moment on Saturday afternoon. It's what you see pictured above and in the video below. Two different images of the same Troy Tulowitzki(notes) swing, showing two different points of contact on the baseball. A double-hitzki, if you will, for a basehit to left field. Tulo was jammed a bit on the fourth-inning offering from CC Sabathia(notes). Both broadcast teams described the contact as a broken-bat single based on the double-crack sound, but a closer inspection on the video you see below shows it hit the bat twice. Take a closer look for yourself. Watch the video courtesy of MLB.com: I've seen a double-hit on the backswing when a ball takes a strange bounce. Score one for modern technology.

I Dig Crystals Healing Fashion Blog Singapore to discontinue fast-track permanent residency program for wealthy foreigners Updated on Apr 11, 2012 Singapore Immigration Note: This is an updated version of the post. The previous version incorrectly stated that the The Global Investor Programme (GIP) is being discontinued. A special program called Singapore Financial Investor Scheme (FIS) that fast-tracks the application process for wealthy individuals who wished to become permanent residents of Singapore is being discontinued. The FIS scheme that was administered by Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) required individuals to either invest in Singapore for at least SGD 10 million of assets which is to be booked and managed by a financial institution regulated by MAS or to hold at least SGD 8 million of assets and a SGD 2 million invested in a Singapore private housing property. It’s not clear exactly how many investors utilize the FIS scheme annually to become Singapore PRs but based on Janus’s own personal experience, the number is fairly small and insignificant.
