Hair volume how-to

Hair volume how-to
Posted September 26, 2011 | 10 Comments Have you ever wondered how to get more volume in your hair? Today we’re going to show you how to achieve that thicker, fuller look for your wedding day – and beyond – with a few of our favorite tutorials. I have always admired voluminous hair in magazines and photo shoots wishing that I, too, had lustrous, voluminous hair. Then I realized something: I can keep wishing for more volume or I can make it happen. Voluminous hair is the result of a few key essentials like a good diet (high protein can lead to healthier, thicker hair with less breakage), plenty of H20, proper blow-drying techniques (here’s a video to get you started), plenty of hairspray, and abundant amounts of teasing, product-applying, and styling. image via keiko lynn You may remember the next image from our braided hairstyles round-up a few months back. Although she has an unfair advantage (her hair is gorgeous to begin with), she styles it from this… …to this: It looks beautiful!

1980's hair tutorial Hey Glitter Girls, it’s Jessie from Sweet Thing bringing you a fun ’80s inspired hairstyle. As a child of the ’80s one of my favorite movies growing up was Flashdance. I longed for curly hair like Jennifer Beals. If only I had known that there was no perm necessary to get the very same look. 1. Before bed, wash your hair. A few things to note: The direction of the twist determine the direction of the curls. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 5 Easy to Follow Hair Tutorials No matter how comfortable or confident I become in my hair styling abilities, I always seem to be on the lookout for easy style ideas to add to my daily routine. shampoo free EmailEmail “No Poo” is a nickname for going shampoo free… Everyone has a different experience when ditching shampoo. Here is Amber’s story…. And you can read mine here! So I decided to stop using shampoo and jump on this tiny “no poo shampoo” train that was starting. Still. So this is when I decided to do a little experiment. Week One Okay, so this is bad. Why baking soda? The first week was horrible (I wore a lot of ponytails) but I kept telling myself eventually my scalp and hair would detox and recalibrate. Week Two Okay, getting a little better but yes, my hair still looks like crap. However, another problem had cropped up. to my 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and the itch was gone immediately. Week Three By the end of the third week I could see that it really was going to work. Week Four By the end of the fourth week something funny began to happen. Week Five By week five suddenly there was a huge change. Week Six So after six weeks my hair is looking better than it has in years.

Tutorial - Simple 3 Twists Hairstyle First, a little back story: I was on Pinterest (I know, big surprise) awhile back and Ms. Ez from Creature Comforts pinned a fun messy hair-do, and mentioned she needed to learn how to do it. So I piped in that I should show her how. I have been wanting to do a hair tutorial for ages now, so this was the perfect reason to get it done. So here it is, my first hair tutorial, wahoo! It is best to start with 1-2 (even 3) day old hair that has a little wave to it. Next you will want a little lift through the roots. So now we have the hair looking a little fuller, and the front styled the way we want it to look in the end. Split your hair into three sections, pulling the sides in front of your shoulders, leaving just one section in the back. Lift the back section up and backcomb at the base. Take the section and twist once like shown. Next take the second section and hold it out to the side like shown. Twist the section once loosely right next to the first twist, like shown in the picture.

beach waves I'm one of those people who was cursed with stick straight thin hair that hates to curl. I used to do the traditional "braid your hair before bed" and rag curling tricks to get nice beachy waves, but they never ended up turning out right the next day. I didn't like the fact that the process took a whole night, and I had no way of knowing what my hair was going to look like when I pulled the braids/rags out. Do you know how nerve-wracking that is, especially if you have an event to go to (*cough* my brother's wedding)? Would the curls be too tight? would they end up in funny places? I developed my own way of doing nice randomly chunky waves. Here's how to get some nice messy random waves, without sleeping on a head of uncomfortableness. I absolutely LOVE the randomness of these curls. Have you seen this method done before? "How do you put your hair in the flat iron without burning your fingers?" Feel free to Pin!!

beach hair guide The best stuff in life is free. Like sunshine, blue skies and THE OCEAN…if you have access to it, that is. Which I don’t. And I know it’s only January but I’m already Jonesing for spring. So, to scratch the itch, I decided to go with beach hair. Problem was I needed sea spray to get the really beachy look and texture. So with much hesitation and skepticism I took on the task of making my own, with stuff I already had around the house. BELIEVE me when I tell you, this is BY FAR the best sea spray I have ever used, EVER. RECIPE: 1 Cup WARM water 3 Tablespoons Sea Salt 1 Tablespoon Gel or Spray Gel 1/2 Tablespoon Conditioner (or leave-in) A couple spritzes of your favorite perfume DIRECTIONS: Mix Warm water and salt first and shake well.
