Bathsphere by Alexander Zhukovsky | Alexander Zhukovsky Design Studio
fernando machado Zaha Hadid: Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center, Baku-Azerbaijan The Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center is a 619,000-square-foot building complex in Baku, Azerbaijan designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid and noted for its distinctive architecture and flowing, curved style that eschews sharp angles. The center is named for Heydar Aliyev, the leader of Soviet-era Azerbaijan from 1969 to 1982, and president of Azerbaijan from October 1993 to October 2003. The Center houses a conference hall (auditorium), a gallery hall and a museum. The project is intended to play an integral role in the intellectual life of the city. The Heydar Aliyev Center represents a fluid form which emerges by the folding of the landscape’s natural topography and by the wrapping of individual functions of the Center. Heydar Aliyev Center had an official soft-opening ceremony on 10 May 2012 held by current president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

22 Very Unique Staircases That Will Inspire You In most people’s homes a staircase is just a functional means of travelling from one floor to another. Usually there is nothing very remarkable about a staircase, though some are more attractive than others. It used to be that you had a choice. Closed or open sides, and natural or painted wood. Some might have more ornate spindles and balusters, while others would just have paneling underneath the handrail. That all now seems a bit dull and passé, especially when compared to this collection of 22 outstanding and individual staircases we spotted on Bored Panda. What particularly appealed to us about these designs wasn’t just the style and flow, the grace and elegance, the uniqueness and individuality.

Drawing a large circle, Circular Line will connect the existing lines that spread in radial direction from the City Central. Circular Line is a groundbreaking scheme that will dramatically improve the transport system, where the Taipei City Department of Rapid Transit Systems (DORTS) is responsible for the project and its construction. They plan to have the transportation facility, the Circular Line, as a work of public art piece, for the very first time in the world. Circular Line is a subway system, total length of 34.8 kilometers, in which its 14.5 kilometers are above ground facilities. The concept "shine" was inspired from the theme for the Circular Line project stated by DORTS, 'Like clouds swift passage, the dragon travels thousands miles', and the color scheme of the line, which is "yellow".
