Best Free Antivirus Software
Comodo Antivirus is my top pick for advanced users, or for Intermediate users who are okay with an antivirus software which will occasionally ask them for input. However, if you do not fall into those categories, or for any other reason find it to not be a good fit for you, then you will likely find my next pick suitable. Also, for those who prefer a complete solution, there is always Comodo Internet Security (CIS), which is also free and includes a firewall in addition to all other components which already come with Comodo Antivirus. Firstly, I will note that I am a volunteer moderator (not employee) on the Comodo forums. However, this is certainly not the reason I chose this for the number one position. Comodo Antivirus also uses the cloud to facilitate the detection of the most recent malware, as do many other Free Antiviruses reviewed in this article. Panda Cloud Antivirus is an excellent choice for average users, who may find Comodo Antivirus too confusing. Avast! Comodo Antivirus

throckmorton
hello my name is throckmorton... lately a few folks have asked why this little blog is dubbed "throckmorton". as with most (if not all) things, there is a story. in college, my friends were liberal arts folks -- mostly english or fine arts or PLS (notre dame's great books program -- the PLS stood for "program of liberal studies" or "probably law school"). however, every rule has an exception, and my exceptions were my friends amy and adrienne (also my three-times-a-roommate) who were both math majors. amy and adrienne had to take a physics class as part of their required courses. the textbook that they used was full of story problems about the mysterious "your cousin throckmorton", as in: Your cousin Throckmorton is playing with the clothesline. He unties one end, holds it taut, wiggles the end up and down sinusoidally with frequency 2.00Hz and amplitude 0.075m. or, workless refrigerator

Anonymous Hacktivist Jeremy Hammond Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison | Threat Level
Photo: Jim Newberry, FreeHammond.com Hacker Jeremy Hammond was sentenced this morning to 10 years in prison and three years of supervised release for a damaging, politically motivated computer intrusion at the private intelligence firm Stratfor in 2011. The 28-year-old Chicagoan pleaded guilty earlier this year to hacking the servers of Strategic Forecasting, Inc., where he wiped out files and databases and stole 5 million private email messages and 60,000 customer credit card numbers. The emails went to WikiLeaks, while the credit cards were used by Anonymous to rack up $700,000 in fraudulent donations to non-profit groups. Hammond’s lawyers, armed with an internet petition and over 250 letters of support, had sought a sentence of 20 months time-served, positioning Hammond as a whistleblower working to expose wrongdoing at private contractors tied to law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
