Bracelet anneaux/macramé
Growing up by the beach in Southern California, the ability to knot a macrame bracelet was practically a right of passage. Although those days are long behind us, we’ve never forgotten the ever-so-simple square knot technique. This time, however, we’re replacing hemp and wooden beads for more updated elements like colorful nylon cord and glossy metal charms. You’ll need: Start by cutting the knotting cord into two 30 inch, two 20 inch and one 10 inch lengths. Center the 30 inch cord under the two middle strands. Pull tightly and slide the knot up to the top. Finish the 2nd half of the square knot by folding the left cord over the middle strands and under the right cord. Pull tightly and repeat the steps – left, right, left, right . . . To finish the knots, thread one of the cords onto a needle and sew up the center of 3-4 knots along the backside. Repeat the same step on the other cord. After sewing up both knotting cords, trim away any excess.
Tutorial | smitten by a knot
I’ve been so wanting to do a tutorial and I finally decided on this cute little macrame bracelet. It’s based on the knotted bracelets you see in tourist shops. They’re very simple to make and depending on the cord and beads you choose, you can design them to suit your style. Just about any kind of cord and beads will work as long as the bead holes are large enough for two cords to fit through. You’ll need a few simple things: clipboard with a piece of foamcore or cardboard cut to fit4 yards cord (I used C-Lon Tex 400 for this demo)8 or more beads depending on length of bracelet2 smaller beads for dangles3 straight pinsscissorsneedlepoint needle for finishing (has a round ballpoint end)needlenose jewelry pliers (optional) Instructions 1) Cut 2 pieces of cord about 24″, hold together and clip them under the clipboard about 8″ from the one end. Cut one piece of cord about 2 yards long. 2) I’m right handed so I usually start with the cord to the right side of the filler cords. Cheers, Monica
page corner bookmarks
This project comes to you at the request of Twitterer @GCcapitalM. I used to believe that a person could never have too many books, or too many bookmarks. Then I moved into an apartment slightly larger than some people’s closets (and much smaller than many people’s garages) and all these beliefs got turned on their naïeve little heads. But what a person can always look for more of is really cool unique bookmarks. Placeholders special enough for the books that are special enough to remain in your culled-out-of-spacial-necessity collection. Page corner bookmarks are cute, practical and deeply under-represented in the world.* They’re easy to make, easy to customize, and will set you apart from all those same-same flat rectangular bookmarks. If you like this tutorial, here are a couple others that might be up your alley. For the monster-loving adults in the room, try some googly-eyed paper monster wine charms. What you’ll need: Putting it all together: 1) Follow steps 2 and 3 from above.
Bracelet chaine/ fils coton
Chain link bracelets, with colorful threads woven through them, have been popping up here and there. We adore Aurèlie Bidermann‘s Do Brazil bracelets and thought it was about time we graduate to the ultimate “grown-up” friendship bracelet. With a curb chain bracelet and some embroidery thread, we’ll teach you how to make your own woven chain bracelet. You’ll need:a curb link braceletembroidery threadtwo bobby pinsa pair of scissors Cut 2 sets of 15 strands of embroidery thread, with each strand measuring four times the length of the bracelet. Lay the second color (blue) over the first color (coral). Repeat the steps until you reach the end of the bracelet. (top images from here and here, rest of images by Honestly…WTF)
Denim bracelet - tutorial
One of my most popular posts last year was my denim bracelets, and I got a lot of requests for a tutorial. So I have decided to kick off the new year by keeping my promise. What you need to make these bracelets are as follows: A worn out pair of jeansScissorsStrong thread (I used fishing line for my first one)NeedleBeadsPush buttons (I’m using a KAM press with buttons that I god from E-bay.) 1. Select the seam you want to use. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8.Push the needle trough the bracelet from the front. 9. 10. The second one that I’ll show you is a little more time-consuming, but just as easy to make. 1 You will need a longer thread for this, but because it’s very easy to get I tangled up I would recommend changing when you’re half way finished. 2 I’m using some tube shaped beads for this and thread one to the string before I push the needle trough the bracelet to secure it. 3 Move the needle a little to the side before pushing it back up, attaching a new bead and pushing it back down.

Chain 86 in white, ch 2 turn Row 1 : half double crochet 85 in the last one hdc change color to pink chain 2 Row 2 : single crochet (sc) sc 2 in the edge, sc 86, in the other edge sc 2 and sc 86 skip Crochet an other one in other color.I used a 1,75 crochet hook and a size 6 crochet thread but there are differences in the UK or USA.
