Nine Things Successful People Do Differently - Heidi Grant Halvorson Learn more about the science of success with Heidi Grant Halvorson’s HBR Single, based on this blog post. Why have you been so successful in reaching some of your goals, but not others? If you aren’t sure, you are far from alone in your confusion. It turns out that even brilliant, highly accomplished people are pretty lousy when it comes to understanding why they succeed or fail. 1. To seize the moment, decide when and where you will take each action you want to take, in advance. 3. Fortunately, decades of research suggest that the belief in fixed ability is completely wrong — abilities of all kinds are profoundly malleable. The good news is, if you aren’t particularly gritty now, there is something you can do about it. 7. To build willpower, take on a challenge that requires you to do something you’d honestly rather not do. 8. 9. If you want to change your ways, ask yourself, What will I do instead?
Triumph Scrambler 900 Most of the bikes we show here don’t reflect the truth of mainstream motorcycle customizing. They’re bikes to aspire to, or be inspired by. The reality is that most people who customize their bikes do it in a piecemeal fashion: changing a part here and there, doing a little of the work themselves and contracting out the trickier stuff, and poring over catalogs and websites to find the elusive parts that will provide a useful performance kick or a different look. This is something that Roland Sands understands very well, and one of the reasons he’s become so successful. The Triumph Scrambler 900 we’re looking at here exemplifies this approach perfectly. Sands chose a 2011 model Scrambler as the base, and upgraded the dynamics and rider experience using bolt-on parts that won’t damage reliability. The original 7/8″ handlebars are gone, replaced with Renthal Fatbars attached to RSD risers.
Children, brain development and the criminal law The legal system needs to take greater account of new discoveries in neuroscience that show how a difficult childhood can affect the development of a young person's brain which can increase the risk adolescent crimes, according to researchers. The research will be presented as part of an Economic and Social Research Council seminar series in conjunction with the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology. Neuroscientists have recently shown that early adversity -- such as a very chaotic and frightening home life -- can result in a young child becoming hyper vigilant to potential threats in their environment. This appears to influence the development of brain connectivity and functions. Such children may come to adolescence with brain systems that are set differently, and this may increase their likelihood of taking impulsive risks.

If you have, then you may be interested to know that Lee was a very famous martial artist and actor who sparked the first big interest of Chinese martial arts in the West in the 60’s and 70’s. But besides being an awesome fighter and iconic figure Lee also had some very useful things to say about life. Here are 7 of my favourite fundamentals from Bruce Lee. 1. “As you think, so shall you become.” Perhaps the most basic statement of how we work. It’s easy to forget about this simple statement in everyday life. 2. “It’s not the daily increase but daily decrease. “If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done.” If you want to improve your life then it’s tempting to want to add more. Adding more and more just creates more stress and anxiety. Adding more thoughts and thinking things over for the 111:th time may create a sense of security. Thinking has its place.
Psychedelic Art Korean surrealist artist Jung Yeon Min’s works are visually stunning, and made us curious to dig into what kind of psyche it takes to produce such artistic beauty. In our research we discovered a view into the infinite imagined world that exists outside the boundaries of our cranium. In the imaginary spaces depicted in her works, the extraordinary and the realistic merge, the micro and the macro coexist, and rules of physical space and time are manipulated. Min declares that she wishes to challenge viewers to ponder the possibilities or what is possible when one’s imagination is stretched to its outer limits. Now, nothing wrong with a little escape from time to time. So what can you do? 1. “To think too long about doing a thing often becomes its undoing.”Eva Young A bit of planning can certainly help you to achieve what you want to achieve. You think and think and try to come up with “the perfect plan”. 2. “If you want to make an easy job seem mighty hard, just keep putting off doing it.”Olin Miller ”Putting off an easy thing makes it hard. By over thinking and putting things off you are not only trying to protect yourself from pain. Because you are dwelling on it. So plan a little and then take action. Often you don’t even have to plan, you have been there before and you know what needs to be done. 3. 4. “Do the hard jobs first. 5. 6. 7.

AMERICAN JUGGALO: The Short Juggalo Doc You Didn’t Know You Needed To See The Juggalo version of HEAVY METAL PARKING LOT lets the Faygo-swillers speak for themselves. Is there a subculture as weird and specific and largely ridiculed as the Juggalos? The fanbase of the Insane Clown Posse, tens of thousands of Juggalos come together every year for the Gathering of the Juggalos, a bacchanal of (frankly horrible) music, drugs and, one assumes, gross sex. American Juggalo is a short doc that is made up of interviews with Juggalos at the Gathering - basically it’s the clown rap version of Heavy Metal Parking Lot.
