Photographer Uses Sugar, Cotton, Feathers and Chocolate to Construct Stunning Landscapes As part of our ongoing partnership with Feature Shoot, Beautiful/Decay is sharing Alison Zavos’ article on Matthew Albanese. “DIY Paradise” was constructed from cotton, salt, cooked sugar, tin foil, feathers & canvas. My work involves the construction of small-scale meticulously detailed models using various materials and objects to create emotive landscapes. Every aspect from the construction to the lighting of the final model is painstakingly pre-planned using methods which force the viewers perspective when photographed from a specific angle. Using a mixture of photographic techniques such as scale, depth of field, white balance and lighting I am able to drastically alter the appearance of my materials. Matthew Albanese is a fine art photographer from New Jersey who specializes in creating and photographing miniatures from common household objects and materials.

Watkins Glen State Park Watkins Glen State Park is the most famous of the Finger Lakes State Parks located on the edge of the village of Watkins Glen, New York, south of Seneca Lake in Schuyler County. The main feature of the park is the hiking trail that climbs up through the gorge, passing over and under waterfalls. The park has a lower part that is next to the village and an upper part that is open woodland. Watkins Glen State Park is in a 400-foot-deep narrow gorge cut through rock by a stream that was left hanging when glaciers of the Ice age deepened the Seneca valley, increasing the tributary stream gradient to create rapids and waterfalls wherever there were layers of hard rock. The rocks of the area are sedimentary of Devonian age that are part of a dissected plateau that was uplifted with little faulting or distortion. They consist mostly of soft shales, with some layers of harder sandstone and limestone The gorge path winds over and under waterfalls and through the spray of Cavern Cascade.

When Real Babes and Lolis are Turned to Anime Skilled artists of 2ch just made an animazing feat by showing what they're capable of - turning real babes (and lolis) to their anime version. Probably I'm more than light years away to achieve such mastery despite the hardships I've done practicing how to draw anime on paper. I desperately need apprenticeship to a master who knows how to do this! Starts with Loli ends with Loli :) If you like this article please share this on Facebook or Tweet it on Twitter. Update:

Surreal Paintings Cloak People in Landscapes Berlin, Germany-based artist Moki finds inspiration in Japanese artist Hayao Miyazaki's work (Spirited Away) as well as in nature. Her acrylic paintings are filled with images of northern landscapes or as she describes more specifically as "isolated Scandinavian and Icelandic terrain, a subarctic frozen lake continent, untouched caves and moss meadows, and mountains sculpted into anatomical shapes by wind and water." Moki merges humans with nature, cloaking them in lush green meadows or a calm sea of water. When asked why she combines humans with nature, Moki said, "The beings disappearing in my paintings illustrates the state of mind when you cannot distinguish between you and the other, that feeling of awareness for what surrounds you. Chinese philosopher Zhang Zhou wrote about the Zhuangzi butterfly in one of his books, "Once Zhuangzi dreamt he was a butterfly, a butterfly flitting and fluttering around, happy with himself and doing as he pleased.
