ARASAAC: SOFTWARE Description: Objective: Creation of a word processor which allowed the simultaneous writing with text and pictograms, thus facilitating the elaboration of materials and the adaptation of texts for people with limitations in communication. Additional information: For the functioning of AraWord, the database of pictograms from the Aragonese Portal of Augmentative and Alternative Communication -ARASAAC-, has been incorporated, which allows the use of more than 8000 pictograms with their different meanings. This vocabulary will increase as new pictograms are added to the Portal. Desde ARASAAC queremos agradecer a Carmen Basil 1 y a la Unitat de Tècniques Augmentatives de Comunicació (UTAC) su colaboración en la redacción de este apartado del portal. ¿Qué son los Sistemas Aumentativos y Alternativos de Comunicación (SAAC)? Los Sistemas Aumentativos y Alternativos de Comunicación (SAAC) son formas de expresión distintas al lenguaje hablado, que tienen como objetivo aumentar (aumentativos) y/o compensar (alternativos) las dificultades de comunicación y lenguaje de muchas personas con discapacidad. La comunicación y el lenguaje son esenciales para todo ser humano, para relacionarse con los demás, para aprender, para disfrutar y para participar en la sociedad y hoy en día, gracias a estos sistemas, no deben verse frenados a causa de las dificultades en el lenguaje oral. La Comunicación Aumentativa y Alternativa (CAA) no es incompatible sino complementaria a la rehabilitación del habla natural, y además puede ayudar al éxito de la misma cuando éste es posible.
