UK Fried Glass Noodles/Fried Tang Hoon One noodle that I haven’t had in a long time is ‘glass noodle or Tang Hoon’. I never thought of cooking this until I saw it at Belachan's blog. I remember when I was young I had problem chewing and swallowing this type of noodles. I guess it is the chewy and slippery texture of it. Ingredients: 3 small bunch of glass noodles – soak in warm water until soft. Sauce: 2 tbsp oyster sauce 2 tbsp of soy sauce 2 tbsp fish sauce 1 tsp sugar Salt and pepper to taste 1/2 cup of chicken stock 1.
Great Homemade Bratwurst Recipe for the Home Sausage Maker This homemade bratwurst recipe is very close to what you would expect to get if you had a fresh bratwurst served to you in Germany. At least that's what I've been told by a friend who actually has the experience to be able to accurately make the comment. Bratwurst (and lots of other German sausage) is often made with emulsified meat. To emulsify the bratwurst, the meat is ground through the fine plate of a sausage grinder, mixed with the spices and other ingredients, and then run through the food processor in small batches (adding water as needed) until a paste-like consistency is accomplished. This isn't difficult to do, but it can be time consuming if you are making more than about 5 lbs. of sausage. I find I can get a very respectable product just by grinding the meat several times through the finest plate on my meat grinder. Recipe Once the sausage is fully mixed, stuff it right away into 32-35 mm hog or collagen casings and refrigerate or freeze immediately.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars | Happy New Year and all the best for 2014 ! I am not one for making New Year resolutions but I have set myself a goal to try and be more organised this year. Ever since having the kids I have struggled to get my life as organised as it was pre children. My husband is always telling me to write things down – so this year I will heed his advice and make lists, lists and more lists. Well ok so the first thing on the list was a half packet of salted peanuts. Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars Ingredients 60g butter 30g caster sugar 2 tblsp golden syrup 4 tblsp crunchy peanut butter 175g Digestive biscuits 100g milk chocolate 45g salted peanuts Instructions Lightly grease a 22cm square tin. British Pork Recipes: Perfect Roast Pork Recipe Roast Pork is, like Roast Beef, an intrinsic part of a Sunday Roast, though there is no reason to not eat the meat any other day. A perfect roast pork should have lovely moist, evenly cooked meat surrounded by crisp, sharp crackling. The crackling can be either left on the meat of removed at the end of cooking and served separately. I prefer to use outdoor, free range pork as this will have a good thick layer of fat. A good layer of fat under the skin is imperative to keeping the meat moist during cooking and also adds flavour to the finished roast, as the fat renders down during cooking there's no need to worry. If you buy a large joint of pork, don't worry, adjust the cooking times to suit the size (see below) and you can never have too much left over pork to make delicious sandwiches for lunch the next day. Simple Blackberry Crumble - Easy Green Store Blog It is that time of year again where Blackberries (or Brambles) are all over the hedges at the side of the road, in forests and in fields. The blackberry season usually runs from the end of July to the beginning of October in the UK, depending on the weather. After all the wet weather we have had in the UK this week, we decided to go searching for some Blackberries in our favourite spot a mere 100 metres from where we live, and were surprised by the amount we have come back with. A 45 minute picking has provided us with just over 3lbs worth of plump berries ready for a number of our favourite desserts and preserves including crumbles, pies and jams. A few words of advice when picking these delicious berries, always wash berries that you have picked before eating them, and make sure you pick from hedges where dogs can’t reach, and away from busy traffic. Here is our rough and ready recipe to make a simple but ever-so-tasty Blackberry Crumble. Ingredients Enjoy!
Chicken Potato Layer leftover cooked chickenonionmushroomsbacongarlicpotatoesmixed herbs and black pepper Line a greased ovenproof dish with thinly sliced potato. Lightly fry some chopped onion, mushrooms and bacon (cut into little squares). You can use low fat bacon to make it even healthier. Add some finely chopped garlic at this stage if liked. Mix together with the cooked left over chicken, add a pinch of mixed herbs and a dash of black pepper if liked. Spoon the mixture over the potato slices and top with another layer of potato slices and a cheese sauce made from semi skimmed milk and low fat cheese. Pop in oven (180 C/Gas 4) for about an hour and a half or until potato is cooked. This is nice eaten with green vegetables for a winter meal or with a leafy salad for a summer meal.
