J'aime ceci: Be the first to like this.

Could MySpace’s new facelift win over Facebook users? Popular social network MySpace today announced it has decided to give its profiles a face lift with a more simplistic format. The change comes as a result of user feedback that cited troubles navigating profiles and finding content, said a company spokesperson. The main difference appears to be a universal format across all content tabs, including photos, playlists, stream, friends and comments. These tabs are nicely lined up vertically on the left side of profiles, which definitely makes it easier to navigate than the previous set up made up of individual boxes. The top navigation bar, made up of tabs to games, video and music, appears to be the same, though a “More” tab (similar to Facebook) has been added to reduce a long line of choices (see image below). I’d be lying if I didn’t say that the new setup reminds me a lot of Facebook, which might be a smart move by MySpace. Apple’s iTunes-only Ping socializes your music with elements of Facebook (video demo) As part of version 10 of iTunes, Apple announced its Ping social network for music fans. The new social network lets you publicly announce the music that you like. You can share it with your friends and make Twitter-like comments on it in real-time. Apple chief executive Steve Jobs, speaking at today’s press conference, said that Ping helps with the whole problem of discovering the right kind of music that fits you when there are millions of songs to choose from. Ping is interesting because it addresses one of the fundamental flaws of the iTunes market. Here’s a video demo of Ping in action in a demo at Apple’s event today. Getting noticed i s a challenge for everyone building apps.

Use Wikipedia as a Marketing Tool -- Wikipedia -- RLM PR -- Wiki Only eight years old, Wikipedia, 'the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit' already has more than three million articles in English alone, covering nearly all major companies and a lot of minor ones as well. Should yours be among them? 'If you're consumer-facing, it's important to be in Wikipedia,' says Sharon Nieuwenhuis, account manager at RLM PR, a public relations firm that offers Wikipedia placement and article correction among its services. 'It's a way of proving legitimacy, and not being in there has become something of a stigma. People go to Wikipedia to find basic information about your organization, and if they don't find it, they think, ‘Why should I pay attention to you?'' Appearing in Wikipedia can contribute to the bottom line. Getting into Wikipedia If getting into Wikipedia is highly desirable, it also seems close to impossible to many companies who've tried it -- including PacketTrap. Begin with a general PR campaign.
