Rest days are critical to sports performance for a variety of reasons. Some are physiological and some are psychological.

Sports therapist: Job description Sports therapists work with sport and exercise participants to help prevent injuries, recognise, manage and treat them should they occur, and then rehabilitate the participant back to full fitness. Using the principles of sport and exercise science, they incorporate physiological and pathological processes to make sure participants are training and competing safely and provide an immediate response when sport and exercise related injuries occur. If injuries or health-related issues go beyond a sports therapist's scope of practice they will refer the patient to an appropriate healthcare professional. Work can be found in sports injury clinics or directly with a sports club or sportsperson, either professional or amateur.

Assessment in the new national curriculum – next steps My original post “Assessment in the new national curriculum – what we’re doing” remains one of the most popular on this blog. How will we assess in the new national curriculum? I was delighted to hear that Durrington High School had been awarded an assessment innovation fund grant by the DfE. I was even more delighted when Durrington DHT Shaun Allison published his thoughts so far in an excellent blogpost!
