Tomato Soup | Amazing Graze Farm
I grew up eating Campbell Soup from a can. I am a soup lover and come from a long line of soup lovers. My Grandma, Great-Aunts and my Mom and I could all eat soup anytime of the year. Today it is in the low 90′s, yet I made tomato soup for my lunch. I make all of my own soups now and love them even more than the canned variety. One of the last if not the last soup I tried to figure out was tomato soup. I am not an exact measurer by nature. Homemade Tomato Soup4 Tbs. fresh butter 4 Tbs. freshly ground flour or whatever flour you use1/2 tsp. salt 2 cups fresh milkFew dashes of pepper 1 or 2 quarts tomatoes a bit of tomato powder or paste (optional) 1/2 tsp. basil 2 1/2 Tbs. First of all I have my ingredients ready. Melt the butter in the pan and then stir in the flour, salt and pepper. Add the 2 cups of milk quickly, so you don’t burn the flour and butter. Cook and stir until it is thick and bubbly. You can see it getting thick and bubbling up in this next picture. Next add the basil.
Dehydrating Tomatoes 101 |
Dehydrated tomatoes taste amazing! The problem is when you grow your own tomatoes the year usually goes like this – nothing, nothing, nothing and then loads of tomatoes in one go! Tomatoes are so healthy, tasty and versatile it is a crime to ever waste them. Sure you can make sauces etc but I think one of the best ways to preserve tomatoes is to dehydrate them. Below is an awesome tutorial on how to dehydrate tomatoes from Bev Cooks, check it out and the next time you have a glut of tomatoes or they are on offer at the store, get dehydrating! 40 Healthy Snacks: Eat up, guilt-free.
Healthy snacks. Funny what I used to think was “healthy” when it came to my snacking habit. Which, for the record, back in my processed food days was pretty bad. I was always hungry. Sometimes it’s nice to have a handy list of snacks for when those hunger cues hit. Cold and Sweet Treats When the weather is warm I love grabbing something cold and sweet. Other yummy icy treats: These Homemade Popsicles by DIY Natural are great… and no added sugar! Yummy Inspirations has an awesome Instant Raspberry Ice Cream. This Ginger Strawberry Sorbet and Easy Banana Chai Ice Cream by Empowered Sustenance are amazing! And course, there are always healthy smoothies as a simple way to pack a nice healthy punch into your diet. Gelatin Snacks I recently wrote about the amazing health benefits of gelatin, and I personally LOVE snacks that use this super food… especially since my little girl has a tendency to be something of a picky eater. Biscuits Made With Heavy Cream are Just Divine! | Sweet Tea With Cindy
Cream Biscuits are creamy, buttery-tasting and scrumptious! You will NOT be sorry you tried ‘em! I had to make my own Self-Rising Flour: To each cup of all-purpose flour, add 1 1/4 tsp. of baking powder and … 1/4 tsp. of salt. (It’s so easy to make your own Self-Rising Flour if you don’t have it on hand.) Next, add 1 1/2 cups of heavy whipping cream (no substitute). Pat dough out gently with your hands or a rolling pin. To cut the biscuits, I used a Martha Stewart scalloped-edge cutter and then refrigerated the cut biscuits while I heated up my cast-iron skillet in the pre-heated oven. Cream Biscuits: Ingredients 2 cups self-rising flour, plus more for dusting1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream Directions Preheat oven to 500 degrees F. In a medium bowl, stir together the flour and cream until the dough forms a ball. Fold the dough in 1/2 and knead 5 to 7 times, adding just enough flour to keep dough from sticking to your hands. Gently roll out dough to 1/2-inch thickness.

Eat Cake For Dinner: Texas Roadhouse Rolls
Whoever created the roll recipe at Texas Roadhouse is a genius and whoever decided to give them to guests as a "complimentary appetizer" is a genius. What is the first thing you hear from people when they talk about Texas Roadhouse? I hear "I love their rolls," I have never heard anyone start out by saying "I love their pulled pork sandwich," have you? Don't get me wrong, they have really good food too, but their rolls are unbeatable. I found this copycat recipe floating around the blog world and I couldn't wait to give them a try. Honestly, I was extremely skeptical about these. Well, the moment you have been waiting for . . . . Texas Roadhouse Rolls - Copycat Recipe 4 tsp. active dry yeast 1/2 c. warm water 2 c. milk, scalded and cooled to lukewarm 3 Tbl. of melted butter, slightly cooled 1/2 c. sugar 2 quarts all purpose flour (7-8 cups) 2 whole eggs 2 tsp. salt Dissolve yeast in warm water with a teaspoon of sugar; let stand until frothy.
