Bonefolder
On January 13, 2012, Volume 8, the largest (and regrettably last) issue of The Bonefolder was published online. What started as an experiment in open-access online-only publishing “way back” in 2004 grew into perhaps the most widely read publication in the book arts with over a quarter million downloads for all issues combined since we began with a global readership. Listing of the The Bonefolder in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) placed us in just about every research library’s online catalog, and participation in LOCKSS will ensure long-term access to all issues (as do Syracuse University Library’s and the Internet Archive’s servers). This growth, however, also brought with it ever increasing workloads for the small and incredibly dedicated editorial staff who solicited articles, worked with authors, and much more. Metals conservation
Conservation and restoration of metals is the activity devoted to the protection and preservation of historical (religious, artistic, technical and ethnographic) and archaeological objects made partly or entirely of metal. In it are included all activities aimed at preventing or slowing deterioration of items, as well as improving accessibility and readability of them as objects of cultural heritage. Despite the fact that metals are generally considered as the relatively permanent and stable materials, in contact with the environment they deteriorate gradually, some faster and some much slower. This applies especially to archaeological finds.

INTRODUCTION Technical infrastructure refers loosely to the components that make digital imaging possible. The entire process is sometimes called the digitization chain, suggesting a series of logically ordered steps. In actual practice, the digitization chain can have side branches, loops, and recurring steps, but for simplicity's sake, we present it here as if it were linear. The E. Lingle Craig Preservation Laboratory Repair and Enclosure Treatment Manual
The purpose of this manual is to document the repair and enclosure treatments commonly performed in the Conservation unit serving the circulating collections of the Indiana University Libraries at the Bloomington campus. The idea for this manual originally came from Karissa Tatman, who created the first model for a manual of this type while serving an internship here. Karissa later became a full-time conservation technician in our department. Though primarily intended as a resource for student technicians within the unit, the information given here may also prove useful to those who either are or wish to become responsible for the preservation of library collections or for those interested in the preservation of private or personal collections.
