Journalism Warning Labels Posted by Marc van Gurp | 15-08-2010 21:24 | Category: Activism, Media Isn’t it strange that the media carefully label any content that involves sex, violence or strong language but there’s no labelling system for wacky journalism and other questionable content? (like this blogpost :-) Geek comedian Tom Scott designed a solution for this. He made a sticker template which is downloadable at his website. It’s up to you where to put them. The sticker design is going round the internet very fast.

Webdesign Preise: Was kostet eine Website BP Sends PR Professionals To Gulf Coast To Pretend To Be Journalists You know, a lot has been said about BP and its contributions to the natural beauty of the Gulf Coast states. But what we haven't heard as much about are BP's contributions to journalism, have we? I mean, we've basically covered the fact that BP's been doing a good job at preventing journalism from happening. But all that's about to change, because BP is sending its own journalists to the region, dispatched abroad from their regular offices, in Hell. Basically, having grown tired of blocking other reporters from covering the story, BP is going to spend its own money on a bunch of in-house PR professionals who will reliably block themselves from covering the story. Per Faucon: But in Planet BP -- a BP online, in-house magazine -- a "BP reporter" dispatched to Louisiana managed to paint an even rosier picture of the disaster. YES! "Your job is really a lot like mine," he said as soon as he learned why he was driving me to George Bush Intercontinental Airport just after sunrise. Yeah, BP!

100 Years Of Propaganda: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly - Smashing Magazine Advertisement Propaganda is most well known in the form of war posters. But at its core, it is a mode of communication aimed at influencing the attitude of a community toward some cause or position, and that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Although propaganda is often used to manipulate human emotions by displaying facts selectively, it can also be very effective at conveying messages and hence can be used in web design, too. Notice that propaganda uses loaded messages to change the attitude toward the subject in the target audience. In this article, we look at various types of propaganda and the people behind it, people who are rarely seen next to their work. William Orpen: England, 1917 Orpen studied at the Slade School in London alongside the likes of Augustus John and Wyndham Lewis. Dimitri Moor: Russia, 1917–1921 Dimitri Moor (or Dmitry Stakhievich Orlov) changed the face of graphic design in Soviet Russia back in 1918. A lot of Moor’s artwork was restricted to black and red. Jan Phillips: What IS Creativity Anyway? Have you ever had the thought, "I'm not creative. I can't even draw a straight line"? If so, you're not alone. Many people think that there is some essential relationship between creativity and the ability to make art. If they can't paint like Picasso, sing like Josh Groban, or sculpt like Henry Moore, they don't dare claim to be creative. It feels like an arrogant thing to say about yourself, if you're not an expert, not making a living from your creations, not well-known and publicly acclaimed for your imaginative gifts. Why, when creativity is our very birthright, do so few of us feel creative? Psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, author of Creativity: Flow and the Psychology of Discovery and Invention, says that creativity doesn't happen in our heads but in the interaction between our imagination and our social context. The world is not divided into two groups of the creative and the uncreative. Personal creativity is not about intelligence or information.
