The 2014 classes of Advanced Veneering and Marquetry are intensive five-day workshop seminars held in my shop here in Santa Barbara, CA. They include project-oriented studies of decorative veneering, inlay and marquetry techniques, which I currently use in creating fine furniture. These classes are limited to 6 students, which allows for much personal attention to be given to each student, who will create and complete at least two take-home projects. The prerequisite for the Advanced Class is either to have attended a one-week Basic Veneering class, or to have attended a one-day seminar and have good experience working with veneer in the past. You are also eligible if you own some type of a veneer press, and have completed at least two decorative panels that are shown in my video and book 'Decorative Veneering'. For these classes, we will cover all aspects of inlay and design and have access to detailed information, from the planning stages of a project to the finished product.

Jointing glue-ups I have glued some pine 1x4 and 2x4 pieces together to make a 3x4 block using Elmer's wood glue. Can I joint the glued edge or will the jointer melt the glue and gum up my jointer blades? Author: ldjafrey Posted: 12-22-2014 "Celebrating" Maple - A bunch of pics... It's funny.... sometimes you get a "flury" of orders all of the same species.... and in this case, I pretty much got orders for most of the maples.... Author: Ed S. bugs in old wood I just finished a cabinet from old wormy white oak that had been in a pile at least 15 years.......After I brought it in the house, I'm finding "sawdust" piles inside, so I'm assuming the worms are still there! Beginners How to Get Started with Wood Carving
This is a carving that is completed in its entirety and generally has a more 'lifelike' surface and texture. However, having said that, most caricature carvings show various tool marks but differ from whittling in their complete definition and amount of detail. A carving-in-the-round might be of any topic; it might be big, or small; it might be to scale or life size and may be painted, stained or left natural. A knife by itself cannot produce the desired results in a carving of this type.
