For thousands of years mankind has been captivated and perplexed by memories of experiences arising when his physical consciousness is at rest. The idea that dreams are a communication from beyond the physical experience is not new. Mankind is now on the threshold of profound evolution and spiritual revelation. The Dreamer's Dictionary is a reference book published by the School of Metaphysics for understanding and interpreting universal symbology. 1) the word/symbol and its meaning in the Universal Language of Mind, 2) more in-depth meaning in the language of mind and possible contexts of the symbol, 3) the physical derivation of the word 4) thoughts to consider. 1. 1. 3. 4. 6.

Mos maiorum The Roman family was one of the ways that the mos maiorum was passed along through the generations Family and society[edit] The Roman family was hierarchical, as was Roman society. It is perhaps a matter of perspective as to whether society replicated the power structure of its basic building block, the familia (better translated as "household" than "family"), or whether the male prerogative in a militarized society imposed itself domestically. The distinctive social relationship of ancient Rome was that between patron (patronus) and client (cliens). Tradition and evolution[edit] Roman conservatism finds succinct expression in an edict of the censors from 92 BCE, as preserved by the 2nd-century historian Suetonius: “All new that is done contrary to the usage and the customs of our ancestors, seems not to be right.”[9] But because the mos maiorum was a matter of custom, not written law, the complex norms it embodied evolved over time. Beyond The Wiccan Rede - Other Pagan Ethics - RealPagan- Paganism for the Real World One thing which people often forget is that the Rede is the WICCAN Rede and appropriately only applies to Wiccans. Other paths and individuals might chose to use the Rede as a guideline, but they are certainly under no obligation to do so. That is not of course, to say that other Pagan paths don't have their own ethical teachings to follow or that by not following the Rede they are somehow "Bad". Several of the paths that I know of have very specific sets of values which guide their ethical choices as the Rede guides the choices of Wiccans. For the Asatruar the guidelines are called the Nine Noble Virtues and in many ways they are more like the warrior code that might have been followed by a Viking in actual Pagan society. Hellenic (Greek) Reconstructionists try to follow the ethical codes discussed in surviving texts from ancient Greece. -Lark-

Personal and small business information manager: Get organized, Current Backpack customers can sign in here. Hello, We launched Backpack back in 2005 so people could “keep life’s loose ends together” in one place online. However, because we haven’t given Backpack much attention in the last few years, and as part of refocusing our efforts on a slimmer product line, we’ve decided to no longer offer Backpack to new customers. Existing customers will be able to continue using Backpack as they always have. For those new customers who are interested in something like Backpack, we highly recommend checking out Basecamp. Onwards, Jason Fried, Founder & CEO, Basecamp Classics in Contemporary Culture Alejandro Amenabar's film about Hypatia, Agora, is opening in the US -- if anyone notices a film about Late Antique Alexandria and its mix of religion and violence, the movie is certain to evoke Pavlovian culture-war reactions from all and sundry...In any case, here's an interview with the star, Rachel Weisz, stressing the theme of opposition to religious intolerance / fundamentalism, and noting (?!) that basically ancient science and acting are interchangeable -- neither one involves telescopes (I know: Totally unfair!): "What's remarkable is that everything she was doing was imaginary because she was working in the time before the telescope. And here's a thoughtful essay by Nathan Schneider, generally against the portrayal offered, although appreciative of the lack of sex / the contrast with (e.g.) The best-developed character in Agora, held as a foil against the street riots, is the sky.

What Are the Essentials of Buddhism? The workings of the mind are examined with great precision in these teachings of the Buddha that originated in India over 2000 years back. However the way to freedom lies not in a scholarly study of these teachings, but instead in practicing meditation and mindfulness. The reality of suffering draws many to Buddha's teachings; the teachings are not about suffering though. Four Noble Truths 1. Noble Eightfold Path Three Characteristics of Existence 1.
