Mac 101: Building a bootable diagnostic and repair flash drive More Mac 101, our tips and tricks for novice Mac users. Update: You cannot install Snow Leopard on an 8 GB flash drive. I was incorrect in writing that an install of Essential System Software would take 3.81 GB. This is not meant to replace or in any way affect backing up your hard drive. To make a diagnostic and repair flash drive, I'd suggest buying an 8 GB flash drive, 16 GB flash drive which can be had for around US $20 US $35 these days. I inadvertently omitted a step! At this point do the Erase as mentioned above which should look like the following screen shot. In this example I'm using Snow Leopard, but the idea is the same using Leopard as long as your Mac is running an Intel processor. Insert your Snow Leopard disc and click on Install Mac OS X. When you do you'll see this screen: You can see that it'll take 3.81 GB 8.01 GB (see the update note at the top of the story) to do the simplest installation. Tools And Techniques To Manage Creative Projects On Your Mac Dec 25 2009 By Matthew C. Gallagher So you have sold your idea, your client has committed to the project, the next step is – How do I manage this most effectively to successfully complete this job? There are generally 3 accepted rules of project management: time (delivery to client or launch of product), budget (cost to deliver project) and scope (definition of contracted project). Some folks substitute quality for scope, but focusing on time, budget and the scope of any project inevitably affects the quality delivered to the client. Furthermore, we will only address the time issue in our approach and how best to manage the project on your computer. Creative Projects The creative process is different for everyone but mainly follows 3 simple steps: brainstorming, concepting, finished work. All of these can be solitary pursuits or group-based efforts and usually involve a team working towards a common end goal. Brainstorming is the advent of the idea. Finally, the finished work is completed.

10 Things You Must Do With Your New Mac - Mac - Gizmodo 20+ Mac Apps to Increase Your Productivity Years ago, one of the criticisms lobbed at the Mac platform was that when it comes to software, there just isn't much out there. Any Mac user will know that that stopped being true a long time ago, but in the last five or six years especially, the Mac as a platform has undergone a sort of software renaissance. I'm always trying to juggle lots of different projects and looking for the best ways to make my time and my work as efficient as possible, so I love productivity applications.
