Crab Salad Stuffed Avocado The other day, when we had crab, I also made some crab salad stuffed avocados. Stuffed avocados are a good way to use the small ones--they work well in guacamole too. Ingredients: 2 cups cooked crab meat, fresh, canned, or frozen 1/4 cup minced red onion or sweet onion 1/3 cup finely chopped celery Foodbuzz 24, 24, 24: Chinese Buffet at Home It is no secret that I have an obsession with Chinese cuisine. The place that started it all was a local Chinese buffet here in Michigan. After frequent visits to the buffet over the years, I finally decided to take a stab at cooking my own Chinese dishes at home. The majority of the dishes were delicious and I began cooking different Chinese meals every week, but I had always wanted more variety just like the buffet. I had always wondered, “what if I could create a Chinese buffet at home?” I have wanted to do this for along time so I was very excited when I was chosen to be part of the 24,24,24 event presented by Foodbuzz.
untitled From the molten yolk and bacon crunch of a hand-held breakfast, to the gooey charm of grilled cheese for lunch, nothing matches the simple pleasures of well-made sandwiches. They're quick to assemble, infinitely adaptable, easy to eat, and immediately satisfying—the very definition of good food. The 25 sandwiches you're about to meet can be thrown together during the average basketball halftime or, with practice, during the seventh-inning stretch. Chicken Cacciatore I know it's been awhile since I've posted, and for that I am sorry. It's not like I haven't been cooking though; it's just a very hectic time of the year with finals and lots of papers. What's ironic though is when i'm stressed I tend to cook more! So I've been cooking more than usual, yet barely posting :/ I'll have to work on that. Over break I can upload more recipes.
Asparagus Huevos Rancheros A couple of weeks ago when the local asparagus season had just begun I had asparagus on my mind almost all the time. As fate would have it, one day I was going through some of my older posts when I came across one of my favourite breakfasts, huevos rancheros, and inspiration struck! How about a seasonal take on huevos rancheros with asparagus? Huevos rancheros normally consist of lightly fried tortillas topped with a spicy tomato based sauce and fried eggs but with the asparagus as the inspiration I was thinking about something more on the green side of things. With green as the concept, I knew that I would be using a tomatillo salsa verde in place of the tomato based chili sauce. I often serve huevos rancheros with a side of refried beans or just plain beans but I figured that since the asparagus was going to be thicker than the salsa verde that it would be nice to flatten things out a bit by surrounding the asparagus with beans right in the huevos rancheros.
Eat Your Beer! , it's not just for kegs, cans, bottles, and buckets anymore. It's moved beyond the tap into a whole new territory -- . While many have tried to warn that man can't live on the beverage alone, now more than ever they may be wrong. Behold these nine ways that you can have your beer and eat it too: The Absolute Cheapest Food Strategy in the Universe for the Starving Musician I don’t sleep much and I’m pretty active, so by way of compensation I eat enough food for two or three people per day. I’m also solar-powered, but I’ve found you don’t really need more than ten minutes of direct sunlight to recharge the battery cells. Anything more than that and I start to hear my DNA complaining. I’m also constantly, exceedingly, headcrushingly broke at all times.
