We Are in the Midst of Defeating the Largest Corporate Trade Agreement in History November 15, 2013 | Like this article? Join our email list: Stay up to date with the latest headlines via email. These are times of great secrecy and misinformation. This week, we learned that a brave whistleblower gave the text of the full intellectual property chapter of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) to Wikileaks. A confluence of events this week has weakened the chances of the TPP’s survival. Opposition to the TPP continues to build. We are in a historic moment of people vs. the corporations. As we write this, Jeremy Hammond, the young man who hacked into the private security firm StratFor’s emails is facing his sentencing hearing and up to ten years in jail. Chris Hedges calls Hammond “one of the nation’s most important political prisoners.”
Ex-Workers' Collective : Ümlaut Hear this and fear this, mothers and fuckers! Ever since they burst into the hardcore scene on the biggest, loudest, dirtiest stolen motorcycles ever smuggled into Scandinavia, Umlaut—the most feral, furious, and above all Finnish band in the history of punk rock blast beat destruction—has represented the epitome of nihilistic, transgressive energy. This 38-song CD collects their complete works in under half an hour of music, including such hits as "Thrill of the Open Road," "Hell Bent on Destruction," and "Nuclear Annihilation." It comes in an 80-page book that gathers all their lyrics ("I want to ride a sonic boom across a land with no borders, I'll be the crash test dummy of the No World Order! Yeah!")
Can We Be Lovers & Not Have Sex? I want a life of a million lovers. I want to love you. I want to love you if you are male or female, young or old, single or married… When I see you we will embrace and hold a hug long enough to glimpse some insight from each other’s heartbeat. When we walk down the street we shall link arms, pause frequently, and turn our toes and noses towards the other to speak directly without modesty. I would like us to share the couch together, rather than creating a “do not cross” line where we may as well be sitting on brick blocks seated four feet away. I want to show up to you and look into your eyes instead of at your eyes. I would like you to leave our time together feeling loved and free and full of your most vibrant and luscious hue of you-ness. Please do not get confused: I do not want to have sex with you—whether you are male or female. For me, sharing sex with someone requires a certain alignment, and I do not take that lightly. For love is love is love is love, and that is what I want.
True facts about Ocean Radiation and the Fukushima Disaster On March 11th, 2011 the Tōhoku earthquake and resulting tsunami wreaked havoc on Japan. It also resulted in the largest nuclear disaster since Chernobyl when the tsunami damaged the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. Radioactive particles were released into the atmosphere and ocean, contaminating groundwater, soil and seawater which effectively closed local Japanese fisheries. Rather unfortunately, it has also led to some wild speculation on the widespread dangers of Fukushima radiation on the internet. Posts with titles like “Holy Fukushima – Radiation From Japan Is Already Killing North Americans” and ”28 Signs That The West Coast Is Being Absolutely Fried With Nuclear Radiation From Fukushima” (which Southern Fried Science has already throughly debunked ) keep popping up on my facebook feed from well-meaning friends. I’m here to tell you that these posts are just plain garbage. Units of Radiation are confusing. Cesium-137 is product of nuclear fission. Behrens, Erik, et al.
State of Exception in Hamburg From Libcom Over 8,000 protesters have clashed with riot police as they protested against the planned eviction of squatters from a popular social centre, and against the eviction of hundreds of people from heir homes. The largely peaceful protest erupted following a baton charge, and use of teargas, and water cannons by the police. The Rote Flora is an old theatre building which has been used as a social centre since 1989. "ESSO Houses is the name of an appartment complex, inhabiting flats, a gas station, two music clubs and some other small businesses. One of the Rote Flora squatters said that: Quote: “There was a mood of aggression from the outset,” adding that “we came under serious attack. Running battles were fought throughout the night across Hamburg. A police spokesperson claims that: Quote: “The protesters suddenly started marching, and this was not what we agreed on with them, so we had to stop the march. — Spudnik (@IrishBerliner) January 4, 2014
Fuck marriage, fuck equality | Bi radical This is a excerpt from my book Bi: Notes for a Bisexual Revolution. If you like this text, please consider buying a copy. For about a decade, same sex marriage has been the flagship issue of the GGGG movement*. Marketed as the single-issue battle which would bring equality and solve GGGG-phobia for all, it has been the main focus of GGGG activist and political effort. But before we start with the walking away, we first need to examine what it is that we are asking. Fuck queer assimilation. At its very base, marriage is a patriarchal institution. Most violence perpetrated against women, as well as children, happens within heteronormative families. This happens because the man is considered the head and owner of the family, and thus as entitled to treat his “property” in any way that he sees fit. But even if one’s particular marital arrangement doesn’t include any form of violence, marriage still constitutes symbolic violence against women in and on itself. End marriage – Gay Shame

51st Day Without Food, CDCR Continues to Crack Down on Prisoners’ Peaceful Protest, Forcibly Relocate Strikers, Stonewall Mediation Team | Prisoner Hunger Strike Solidarity As prisoners mark day 51 of their hunger strike, lawyers and advocates continue to express outrage at the California Department of Correction and Rehabilitation’s (CDCR) attacks on prisoners’ peaceful protest. After being internationally lambasted in the media last week for threatening prisoners with force feeding as well as ignoring their medical wishes, the CDCR continued to punish strikers by moving as many as 50 prisoners from Pelican Bay to other prisons. The CDCR issued a confusing press release on Monday evening, claiming it had met the demands of the strikers, while also maintaining it did not recognize the legitimacy of their protest, nor would it negotiate with them. Attempts by the strikers’ mediation team to keep open dialogue with the strikers and prison officials have been rebuffed by CDCR. Anne Weills, attorney for the strikers responded to this news: “Just think of the state of these men, psychologically, physically and medically. Like this: Like Loading...
