Tutorial Tuesday: Crochet flowers Here’s a new skill to learn: crochet! We know how much you loved these beauties from issue 3, so Carmen Heffernan is back to share the crochet love with even more of you online. Supplies: Cotton DK yarn in various colours 3.5mm (UK9/US E4) crochet hook Tapestry needle Abbreviations: UK terms are used in this pattern ch – chain dc – double crochet htr – half treble crochet tr – treble crochet dtr – double treble crochet rep – repeat sl st – slip stitch st – stitch If you’d like to use a different weight of yarn, just check the label for the recommended crochet hook size and use that! Large Flower Row 1: ch 3 Round 2: 11 tr into 3rd ch from hook, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3 (12 tr made) Round 3: Join 2nd colour into top of any tr st from last round. Fasten off. Recycle your old t-shirts into yarn Are your hands itching to starting crocheting or knitting but you have no yarn at home? Do you have some old t-shirts laying around at home? Of course you can buy recycled T-shirt yarn in the shop, it has the same thickness as the one you will cut but it will have a different sentimental value. Nowadays we do think more in terms of recycling, well this is an excellent way to start. When searching on the net you will find more ways of 'how to cut your T-shirt into yarn', but for me this video explains it very well. The only part of the t-shirt used is the part just underneath the arms till just above the bottom seem of your t-shirt. This yarn is excellent for potholders or for home made carpets.

J'ai fait un point qui ne se trouve pas dans le lexique du crochet, alors j'ai demandé à Zarola comment l'appeler, et elle m'a dit qu'elle disait double bride diminuée. * double bride diminuée: entourer le fil sur le crochet deux fois comme pour une double bride faire un premier jeté, puis un second en passant tout d'un coup comme une demi bride. bon dimanche
