New York City's 38 Best Independent Boutiques - Indie 38 Monday, May 20, 2013, by Racked Staff It's time to update our Indie 38, our annual list of the city's best standalone clothing and jewelry boutiques. In order to keep the numbers manageable, we've added a few parameters. Like last time, we've excluded all vintage stores and anything that hasn't been open for at least six months. We've also eliminated stores that's become such a hit that they're no longer all that indie, such as Opening Ceremony and Steven Alan. Finally, we've added another exclusion: this year's list includes no single brand stores—each of the shops here are multi-brand retailers.
