Make a Drinking Straw Weaving Loom Home » $1 and Free, cheap crafts, Headline, Kids, Tutorials 23 June 2011 107,394 views 18 Comments by rhonda When I was putting together our camp crafts roundup the other day, it got me thinking about all of the crafty things I used to do when I was a kid. One of my favorite things to do was weaving on a drinking straw loom, a project I learned in girl scouts. The result is a strip of woven fabric, perfect for use as a belt or scarf. Project estimate: Drinking straws, on hand or $1Yarn, on hand or $1 and upCardboard, on handTape, on hand Total: Free and up Figure out how many straws you are using. Feed each strand of yarn through a drinking straw, sliding the straws all the way up to the knot. Tie the end of another piece of yarn around the first taped-down strand. Weave the yarn over and under the straws. To finish the end, tie the weaving strand and all of the base stands together in an overhand knot. Granny fleur A few weeks ago I was asked about a Granny pattern in English that could only be found in German. So I translated it, thinking that I may crochet it myself one day because it’s a lovely pattern. Later I’ve learnt that the pattern had been modified and gotten a new name due to a charity project in Somalia. Maybe you don’t know much about the crisis at the horn of Africa, maybe you do. Granny Square “Somalia” Round 1: Magic loop, 7 sc and sst into the first sc (8 stiches). Round 2: chain 3 (counts as a htrc), 1 dc into the first sc of the previous round, chain 2, 2 htrc into each of the sc of the previous round, 1 sst into the first dc. Round 3: New colour in any of the chain 2 space, chain 2, 1 dc into the same space, chain 1, 2dc into each space, chain two, sst in the first dc of the previous round. Round 4: chain 3, 6 dc into the chain 2 space of the previous round, chain 1, 7 dc into each space, chain 1, sst into the first dc. The pattern is written in American Terms Gefällt mir:

So below is a plush heart pattern for FREE. • Stitch a cute face on the heart for a child’s gift. • Personalize the plush heart by stitching your loved one’s name across it. • Sew a loop of ribbon into the top seam of the heart and stuff it with lavender to make a lovely sachet. • Nestle a jingle bell deep inside the stuffing (and make sure you sew the seams super tight) to create a baby’s rattle. • Stitch an “XOXO” across this sensuous red heart and prop it by your hubby’s coffee cup Valentine’s Day morning. • For your girl friends, add lace trim around the edges, and stitch “BFF” or “Friends” across it. Granny Bobble Spiral - And there you have it. It's a bit fiddly at first with lots of ends and loops, but once you get past the 2nd row and the pattern is set the only problem is keeping the 4 balls of wool untangled! Lacy granny square I present to you the newest block in the town! Lets welcome the Lacy granny square ;) It is fun, simple and supercute if I may say so myself :) And it will be a great addition to my BigBrightBlanket. So here comes the scheme!I was drawing the scheme thinking how lacy granny square would be made using just one color. O, and I made up symbol for half double crochet because google hates me ... and the last row I draw black, because I use it only if I need to make the square bigger or end it like typical granny square. So here are some color variations of this square I have already made :) Hope you'll have fun with it too! p.s.
