Reading Nook Design Spaces Reading nooks are those nice little nooks in your home where you don’t mind spending a whole day buried up reading a novel or catching up on magazines. The design of these places can be tricky, as usually, focus on comfort overrides aesthetics when you create these spaces. But that doesn’t mean these reading nooks need to be untidy or unappealing to look at. [via]

Japanese Bed Style I just finished my first furniture and I really like to share it here in my first instructables. Hope you enjoy and don't hesitate to ask if there are some difficulties. This instruction is more a inspiration than a tutorial. I won't explane every step. This bed is made without screws in the construction (there are some for the 2 sockets which are - of course - optional). I don't want to describe how the socket is integrated because I'd like to concentrate on the main structure of the bed. Wakefield Street Townhouses by Piercy & Company These London townhouses by architects Piercy & Company have chunky banisters formed from thickly layered birch plywood. The stairs zigzag up from the basement floor to the second floor roof terraces of each of the three residences, which are located behind a listed wall within the conservation area of Bloomsbury. The two-storey-high facades of each house are constructed from a sandy-coloured brick that is lighter in colour than the brown and red brickwork of the surrounding historic buildings.

Do let us know if you want to suggest any more… by Leone Fabre by voodoq A Bookworm's Dream: The Bookshelf Tower Although this bookshelf staircase is not functional as a living space, let alone for reading purposes, it is a pretty clever space-saving solution. Even the speed reading bookworms would have trouble reaching enlightenment living in this enclosed structure- albeit housing an impressively accessible 6,000 books! But just for fun, let us observe Rintala Eggertsson’s ‘Ark’, which was built for a Small Spaces exhibition right inside of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Nothing short of a small architectural wonder well worth the peek… Here is a walk through of the tower. Rintala Eggertsson ‘Ark’ – tour of the book tower from Architects Build Small Spaces on Vimeo.

by Estudio Carme Pinós A 2 mm thick folded piece of steel in a U shape is the only material used to compose a light, modular and resistant shelf. Subtle and made of simple lines it adapts itself to any space and necessity, giving prominence to the objects it holds. It is the perfect solution for a library and it takes on a weightless appearance as the number of books grows. Uncommon Bookshelves and Furniture This post covers some of the most uncommon bookshelf designs you will ever see out there. We are sure it will give you some inspirational ideas. Short on space but more on style? Try the Bed Case by Karen Babel. When you don’t plan to use the bed, split the bed and stack it on your bookshelf!
