Box of Goodies I’ve realized that the only way to create realistic outdoor scenes is by adding lots and lots of nature elements. Things like trees, flowers, bushes, rocks etc. are essential in making the scene look “believable”. But I also know that creating these things by hand takes a very long time. And not everyone has time to sit down for hours on end and create tree after tree after tree. Which is why I’ve done the hard work for you :) The Box of Goodies! Inside this box of goodies you’ll find 9 nature models that you can keep. As well as this you’ll find a collection of grass reference photos that will help you to better create it in blender. Eg. What will you do with yours? Drop your email address in the box to the right and I’ll send the Box of Goodies your way.

Latest Build Available – Soon to be released to the public for testing! « Save The Ocean Sim – Project News We’ve been on a bit of a break due to holidays, and work schedules, but I wanted to let you know about the latest build of the Ocean Simulation Tools version of Blender that has been posted. Contrary to some people’s belief, the project has not died, and work is progressing very well! : ) The newest build is the January 4th version which is now available for donors for Win 32/64, Linux 32/64, and OSX 64 as usual. Here’s what is new to this build: Updates in Build 0104 • Ability to Sync Ocean Modifier with Ocean Texture After hedging our bets on what the final ocean tool would be, it looks like a combination of the modifier and texture will give the most flexible results. • Ocean Modifier Mesh Displacement Choice The ability for the modifier to choose between either generating the ocean surface grid directly and displacing that or just displacing existing geometry. • Hooked up Normal information from Ocean Sim code to the modifier. » FAQ Arnold Rendering General Arnold rendering issues: How can I do glossy reflections using the Arnold «Standard» shader? In the specular section, increase the «Scale» parameter. Fireflies, why do they appear and how can they be avoided? Certain scenes/configurations suffer from a form of sampling noise commonly referred to as «spike noise», or «fireflies»: isolated, super bright pixels that jump around from frame to frame in an animation. • Make the objects with the sharp glossy surfaces invisible to glossy rays. Are caustics possible? Given that Arnold uses uni-directional path tracing, «soft» caustics originating at glossy surfaces are perfectly possible, as well as caustics coming from big sources of indirect light. Bump mapping is not working when connecting images to a Bump3D node Bump3D works by evaluating the bump shader (and image in this case) at different points (P + epsilon, P + epsilon, P + epsilon). How to get rid of noise How to reduce flickering with Pointcloud SSS node: polymesh type: ENUM pause
