Some people die at 25 and aren’t buried until 75. 100 Ways to Simplify Your Life (and Make Yourself Happier) I’ve been striving to simplify my life for many years now, and have recently (through my writing) been advising others how to do the same. In the process, I’ve learned that making little changes in our attitudes, habits, and environment can have a big impact. So today, I thought I’d compile a list of 100 ways to simplify your life – from the practical to the philosophical, and everything in between. Of course, not every item on the list will work for every person reading it. However, I hope that you’ll find at least a little something that speaks to you, helps you save some time, space, and energy — and perhaps even increases your serenity and happiness! How to add character to your home (on a budget) I have often found myself searching through home decor magazines and always wonder... "How can I get my living room to look like THAT?!" Every page is filled with rooms which look perfectly put together yet comfy and lived in all at the same time. Being that the living room is the first room that you see when you enter our home & where we spend the most of our time as a family, watching TV, playing, reading, etc... it becomes the room which I analyze the most. Living in Military Housing, there are many things that can be hard to overlook, like the plain stark white walls for example. Here are my shopping savvy tips for saving money on a room re-do: First, start by shopping your own home. Second, shop at consignment stores, thrift stores or re-sale shops. Third, head off to TJMaxx, Home Goods, Marshalls, Target, Wal-Mart or any other store where you can get a good bargain on home decor items to finish off the room. Here is what the room started out as before & here is is AFTER
What's In a Face? Several years ago, a woman named Brook White appeared on the reality TV competition show . White was 24 years old, blond, and strikingly pretty. When she sang her song, "Like a Star," she struck a familiar chord among some viewers. White said nothing about her religion , but Mormons, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, were certain that she was one of their own. "She has the Mormon Glow," one blogger wrote, referring to the belief that the faithful radiate the Holy Spirit. White mentioned that she never drank a cup of coffee or watched an R-rated movie—signs of a Mormon-like squeaky-clean lifestyle. Soon after, psychologists Nalini Ambady, then at Tufts University, and Nicholas Rule, at the University of Toronto, set out to test the Mormon glow. They certainly could—and in just a glance. To determine what exactly triggers Mordar, Ambady and Rule cropped photos beyond recognition. Mormons don't drink or smoke. BEYOND THE HALO EFFECT: Attractiveness and Personality
Emotion Expression - Emotion Faces and Facial Analysis Neither emotion nor its expression are concepts universally embraced by psychologists. The term "expression" implies the existence of something that is expressed. Some psychologists deny that there is really any specific organic state that corresponds to our naive ideas about human emotions; thus, its expression is a non sequitur. Other psychologists think that the behaviors referenced by the term "expression" are part of an organized emotional response, and thus, the term "expression" captures these behaviors' role less adequately than a reference to it as an aspect of the emotion reaction. Still other psychologists think that facial expressions have primarily a communicative function and convey something about intentions or internal state, and they find the connotation of the term "expression" useful. Some of these theoretical views are discussed briefly on the Theories of Emotion page. Happy Sad Anger Fear Disgust Surprise Other emotion expressions and related expressions
