B-Squares: Modular Solar Powered Electrics. by Jordan McRae Hello Kickstarter! Thanks for visiting our project page and helping take B-Squares from prototype to product. This project started on January 26, 2011 with a quick sketch while both myself and Shawn were trying to prototype another solar product. We were getting frustrated that it was so difficult to integrate solar energy into our professional and for-fun ‘electric graffiti’ projects. So, after three months of intense development, with B-Squares we now think we have a technology that can bring solar, energy storage, and interactivity into a range of projects, instantly. And we need your help to complete the journey. B-Squares is a 3D modular electronics system with an emphasis on (but not limited to) solar power and expandable energy storage. What is “3D” about B-Squares? From the moment we developed the first crude foam prototypes of B-Squares, we were surprised to discover new applications and combinations of Squares each day. “I just made a solar-powered iPod Square!” 1. 2. 3. 4. 6.

Ninja Blocks are simple but powerful open source hardware backed by an amazing web service called Ninja Cloud that allows your Ninja Block to talk to your favorite web apps.
OpenBeam - An open source miniature construction system by Terence Tam With funding about to close, I will no longer be able to edit the project page here. So, please visit us online at the following locations for the latest updates: - for the latest news and updates. - OpenBeam's webstore and knowledge base. - OpenBeam's parent company. Introduction: T-Slot extruded aluminum framing systems have been in use throughout the manufacturing and automation industries for machine building, prototyping and robotics applications for the past 30 years. Example of a 60mm Film Maker's rig, built from OpenBeam components I designed OpenBeam to be a low cost construction system aimed at the hobby and Maker market. OpenBeam Extrusion and Joining Plates OpenBeam connector plates are injection molded out of a metal-replacement engineering resin to bring the recurring costs down. Off-the-shelf M3 nuts are used - no speciality T-Nuts that costs 30-70 cents each! An OpenBeam trebuchet. Thank you,
Decentralize the web with Diaspora by Daniel G. Maxwell S. Raphael S. Ilya Z. We're fully funded! Check out some of the other great projects on Kickstarter Diaspora - the privacy aware, personally controlled, do-it-all distributed open source social network We are four talented young programmers from NYU’s Courant Institute trying to raise money so we can spend the summer building Diaspora; an open source personal web server that will put individuals in control of their data. What is it? Enter your Diaspora “seed,” a personal web server that stores all of your information and shares it with your friends. For a little more detailed explanation, checkout this blog post. What is the project about? We believe that privacy and connectedness do not have to be mutually exclusive. Why are we building it? This February, Eben Moglen, Columbia law professor and author of the latest GPL, gave a talk on Internet privacy. But why is centralization so much more convenient, even in an age where relatively powerful computers are ubiquitous? Why do we need money? Our Promise.
Chris Granger - Musings and such. Light Table by Chris Granger Kickstarter Collections Projects We Love Trending Nearly Funded Just Launched Everything Categories On Our Radar Defining Your Project - Kickstarter School If you’re like us, the first thing you do when visiting a project page is click play. A video is by far the best way to get a feel for the emotions, motivations, and character of a project. It’s a demonstration of effort and a good predictor of success. Projects with videos succeed at a much higher rate than those without (50% vs. 30%). We know that making a video can be intimidating. Play If you have computer access and a ready supply of enthusiasm, you’ve got all you need. No matter how creative or bare-bones your video, you'll want to: Tell us who you are.Tell us the story behind your project. And don't be afraid to put your face in front of the camera and let people see who they’re giving money to. Another thing to remember: don't put any copyrighted music in your video without permission! Finally, make sure your video is 5GB or less, and formatted using a recommended file type (MOV, MPEG, AVI, or MP4).
Community Guidelines Are those the only guidelines? Those are the main two, but read on for specific uses of Kickstarter that are not allowed, and note that Hardware and Product Design projects have additional guidelines below. We don't curate projects based on taste. Instead, we do a quick check to make sure they meet these guidelines. Who can create a project on Kickstarter? Creating projects is currently open to creators over the age of 18 and based in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the Netherlands (see full details). Teagueduino: Learn to Make by Teague Teagueduino is an open source electronic board and interface that allows you to realize creative ideas without soldering or knowing how to code, while teaching you the ropes of programming and embedded development (like arduino). Teagueduino is designed to help you discover your inner techno-geek and embrace the awesomeness of making things in realtime — even if you’ve only ever programmed your VCR. Teagueduino makes making things really simple. Want to build a light-controlled alarm clock? A harmonic music generator or a light that changes color based on temperature? Just plug in a sensor to one of the input ports (for example, a knob), hook up an output device (a speaker, perhaps?) Teagueduino makes learning about electronics and programming intuitive. Beginners can jump in without needing to know how to solder or write code. For those interested in learning how to work with electronics, there will be step-by-step tutorials for wiring up custom sensors and outputs.
