Alors que, graphiste débutant, ce «génial jeune Monsieur Je-Sais-Tout», comme il se décrivait, est engagé chez Columbia Records en 1939, il lance l’idée d’habiller la jaquette du disque d’une illustration artistique «pour la rendre accrocheuse». Il bouscule là les habitudes de la compagnie, qui ne le regrettera pas. En quelques mois, les ventes augmentent de 800 %. Perfection. A partir de 1948, avec le «33 tours minutes», il pousse son concept et invente la jaquette en carton. «Ses pochettes d’album aux couleurs vives sortirent le magasin de disques de son atmosphère de bibliothèque… pour le remettre dans la course, sur Broadway et dans la vie», s’enthousiasme en 1947 le graphiste américain Will Burtin.

Notre logo ayant été longuement expliqué en 1ère partie, dans toutes ses dimensions symboliques, politiques, historiques et pratiques, il nous reste maintenant à examiner la signification des logos des autres partis politiques français, afin de voir comment ils se comparent avec le nôtre. Le logo de l’UMP a été très travaillé par une agence de communication. Il présente des lettres blanches sur un fond bleu-rouge, partagé moitié-moitié, ce qui vise à symboliser l’amour de la patrie (par l’apparence tricolore), et l’équilibre entre la droite et la gauche. Au milieu du logo se dresse la silhouette blanche d’un arbre au tronc épais et au feuillage touffu, reposant sur une ligne horizontale. Cet arbre massif, qui ressemble fort au goût affiché de François Mitterrand pour les arbres, est censé évoquer la stabilité, la durabilité, la solidité, la prospérité, la paix, les valeurs paysannes ancestrales et le bon sens.

Just when you think there’s no end to the diversity of junk food lining supermarket aisles, an insanely detailed infographic comes along to set us all straight. Out of the hundreds of products at our disposal, only ten major corporations manufacture the bulk of what we toss in our shopping carts. So whether you’re looking to stock up on anything from orange soda to latte-flavored potato chips, Mondelez, Kraft, Coca-Cola, Nestlé, PepsiCo, P&G, Johnson & Johnson, Mars, Danone, General Mills, Kellogg's, and Unilever own just about everything you could hope to buy. It seems that six degrees of separation theory has been proven after all, if only because we all drink Diet Coke every now and then. In order to visually elucidate that point, Oxfam International created a comprehensive infographic that reveals the extensive reach of the “Big 10” food and beverage companies.

La nouvelle a beaucoup fait parler d’elle cette semaine : le rachat de Tumblr par Yahoo s’ajoute à la liste de ces transactions géantes qui, à l’instar de la tectonique des plaques, font bouger brusquement de grandes masses de contenus sur Internet. Après les acquisitions de Delicious et de Flickr en 2005, Yahoo ajoute donc à sa collection le réseau Tumblr, fort de ses 100 millions de blogs, pour un montant de 1,1 milliard dollars. La tectonique des plateformes sur Internet, un phénomène dont les mécanismes plongent dans les profondeurs contractuelles des services en ligne. A chaque fois que de tels rachats de plateformes ont lieu, un mouvement de protestation éclate parmi les utilisateurs, traduisant leur inquiétude quant à l’avenir et leur sentiment désagréable d’avoir été « vendus » comme une marchandise, alors qu’ils étaient à l’origine des contenus qui font la valeur du site racheté.
