miss marie's miscellany: Baby blue and green
Remember the blue and green WIP I showed you a glimpse of recently? It was a blanket for my friend and her new baby boy and I finally finished it off at the weekend. I'm pleased with how it's turned out, in fact I'm delighted. I found the pattern at the Lion Brand website, and tweaked it a bit; I used 6 colours, instead of 2 made 12 squares instead of 9 and added a border of half treble rows in each of the colours used. It was delivered on Saturday afternoon and they loved it! A lovely present for a very cute little boy!
Free Pattern: The Power of a Prayer Shawl | The Firefly Hook
We all have friends in need. Sometimes the friend just needs a hug or an encouraging chat over a cup of coffee. Most of us benefit from a reprieve from the daily grind, and having a friend to laugh with can go a long way. But sometimes a friend needs more – when that friend is walking through a dark, sad, or scary time; what many of us call “the valley.” Obviously, the person experiencing a trial is the one with the difficulty – but sometimes knowing how to be a good friend can be hard too. We don’t always know what to say. A tangible gift has a powerful impact and offering something personal can help with healing. I love giving a prayer shawl that represents everything I wish, hope, and pray for that individual in the midst of trouble. And not merely a shawl you would find in a store or in a pattern book, but a personalized crocheted fabric that wraps a friend in symbolism. The symbols you choose will depend on your beliefs and the beliefs of the person receiving the shawl. The stitches: 1.

Linen Stitch Manghan Pattern
I have had so much fun making this Linen Stitch Manghan. The Linen Stitch has been one of my favourite stitches since I first started designing. It works up quickly, and you can alter the look of it so much by changing how often you change colours and how many colours you choose to use. For my Linen Stitch Manghan, I have used Scheepjeswol Stonewashed XL in Canada Jade, Blue Apatite, Amazonite, Boulder Opal, Moonstone, and Lemon Quartz (Colour Packs available below) . The final lapghan is 80 cm x 110 cm (31″ x 43″), which is perfect for me. Chunky Braided Cabled Blanket - All About Ami
Way back in February 2016, I was inspired to make a cabled blanket of some sort after the popularity of my “Cabled Slouchy Beanie” and since I was designing my “Cabled Legwarmers” at the same time. It was around this time that I also began my partnership with Lion Brand Yarn, so I excitedly browsed through their website to determine which yarn I wanted to use for this blanket. I came across their “Color Clouds” that they had just launched, and it looked very intriguing! It is classified as a Jumbo level 7 yarn, a brand new weight class that has been added due to the popularity of very thick yarns and arm knitting. I decided to go with the “Travelers Tan” colourway as I loved the blend of tan and white, and of course I always gravitate towards neutrals. I was inspired to learn new cabling methods when a reader sent me a message through Ravelry and told me to check out these “Cable Crochet Squares” by Elizabeth Ham. Next, I worked single crochets across for Row 2. Row 2 is complete!
